New Holland 3045/2010
I have a 2010 Boomer 3045, when I first took possession it would show and RP code on the dash when it was cold out and would not go into gear. The dealer took it back and change the forward reverse lever. When pushing hard on something it has a tendency to through this warning RP and again would not engage the tranny. I would shut it down and restart it and it would go. This weekend it happen again but shutting it off and restarting it would not engage the tranny so the dealer sent out a service guy with a computer for a hook up. When he got there it started and went into gear no problem and worst still the computer showed no codes for it. He drove it around, took it for a good spin and he got it to do it once so he took it back to the dealership. He was at a lost for what was going on and he says for sure it will be an electrical component but without a code? Anyone else have this problem? I have four more years of payments and the warranty is up in February, go figure.

Sorry I can't be of more assistance with your specific problem, but early on with my 3040 CVT, I had an issue with water getting in a large "weatherproof" connector (located to the rear of the tractor main fuse, in the engine compartment) with mostly blue wires in it. The water caused a very small pin inside the connector, to corrode and make intermittent contact. It drove me nuts, for a while trying to figure out what was wrong, since it caused all kinds of weird issues (fuel gauge would always read 1/2 tank, when the e-brake was on the left turn signal flashed, and other strange issues when going over bumps or up hills) No codes were shown and it took almost a month before I was able to narrow it down. Something you might want to check is that connector, since it seems that all of the computer signal lines run through it. There is an almost identical connector along side of this one, that has orange wires in it that provides power. May want to check them both. The dealer ended up fixing the pin and re-locating the connectors under the cab, I had no further problems with the tractor. I also get an RP every once in a while when starting the tractor, but it clears itself almost immediately (almost like a self test), the only other time I see this is if I forget to put the lever in forward or reverse & hit the "go pedal". Its a nice reminder for me to put the lever in the correct position, before trying to move. HTH.

Thanks Boomer 3040, the tractor sleeps inside but I will keep and eye out for the leaks. The tractor is now at the shop still under warranty so they are going to give it the once over, I am thinking of by an extended warranty for peace of mind.

There was a recall about some calibration of a board computer on the Boomer 3045 back in late 2010 early 2011 that had something to do with the CVT not shifting. Matter effect, ours got flashed twice from the dealer. Did you get yours flashed yet? After the dealer flashed ours, there are no problems anymore.

Thanks DieselMonk!

No, but I will send this to the dealer thanks, that is the sort of thing that I was hoping for. Have you been disappointed with the power of your tractor? The service guy had it out on the road and said that in third it really didn't want to go. I was disappointed when I tried to move some stumps and it would bog out giving me the RP signal and lock out the drive, I would have to restart the tractor to clear the code.

No power issues like that here. Check your 2 air filters, diesel filter (dirt in tank), and the CVT and hydraulic filter. Yes, I know, the CVT and hydraulic filters are a killer, but if they were never changed... you get the idea.
We had our 3045 all summer long helping the Case 580 SMII ripping out tree stumps and getting rid of them, rock and bolder clearing, leveling and moving dirt. Kinda loved the CVT for that as it wouldn't tare everything up (spinning tires). Besides flashing the computer there is also a way to calibrate the CVT. Your dealer should know all about this. Everything got better after flashing. I barley can remember the tractor with the original flash. In your case, I'd get the board computer reflashed and the CVT re calibrated and go from there.

Good stuff thanks, I going to call the service guy right now.

I had a similar problem with mine, would not move either way with warning buzzers going off. Dealer came out and found the wire harness was not completly plugged into the computer control module. That was 100 hrs ago no trouble since.

Thanks farmall40.
I have it back from the dealer and they cleaned it up and she looks like new, lol. They said the RP (Release Pedal) code was from dirt under the pedal. They adjust the tranny and cleaned it up and it seems to be working well. After reading the manual again there may have been some operator errors on my part. Number one is that the tractor must be stopped before changing ranges. At the time of the error I had bumped the range selection from 1 to 3 while moving, and it was 6 F out. The other thing that I read is that when doing work the rpm should be bumped up to 12 or 13. I would do this when doing loader work but was not doing this for general running around. So for now it is working well and I will continue to monitor the deal. Both times that I had troubles though it was right cold. Also in the manual it states that the hydraulic fluids for cold weather operation can be change for a lower viscosity fluid. So I will let it warm up, keep the rpms up when working and change ranges as ordered, go figure. If it happens again I will add to this thread.

Glad to here it's working ok.

I hope you enjoy your tractor as much as we do ours!

I put an addition on the house used it to dig the foundation and mix the concrete and you can see by the attachments I use it for property maintenance, lol. I am pleased with how it is keeping an older guy active and able to keep my property a home.

Thanks and best wishes to you and yours for the new year. We are going to head east this summer coming, relatives in PEI perhaps I will ask for things to see in Nouvelle Ecosse lol.

PEI is very nice and NS has things to offer too. Best wishes to you and yours also and enjoy the trip next year!

Hi fellows. Hope you dont mind me chiming in on your CVT discussion here. I have a 2010 Boomer 8n, which has the CVT. My last 2 machines were the hydro drive and to me, there is just no comparison as to how much power gets to the wheels-all 4 of them. I love the anti-stall feature too. And the ease of operation is unbelievable. Just move the lever or flip the switch, press the pedal and youre gone! Now, what some of us dont understand is this is a computer controlled machine and it has built in safeties to protect the machine and the operator. Fortunately for me, the updates and 'flashes' were all done when i got the tractor so ive never really encountered a problem. Yes, i also get the faults that will stop the tractor, but its a simple process to restart. Just remember it isnt the average gear driven tractor or even hydraulic driven tractor. Its computer driven. If it were gears, consider that it would stall. If it were hydro, it would stop and maybe do damage to the pump.
After 200 hours on the tractor, I am noticing a bit more noise coming from the transmission and rear end. But as i understand its chain driven and chains tend to be noisy. Now, where I am concerend is talk about the series 2 tractors are an updated design and built from a different manufacturer, which tells me there IS a problem and if it hasnt hit me yet, it will.
All in all i am super happy with the tractor. I mean, just look at it! And, my dealer is by far the best! He bent over backwards to get me what i wanted and needed. Im interested to keep up with this posting.

Welcome ttuner, I did a lot of research before buying my tractor which was well below the start prices of the Kabota and JD. You are correct in what you say that this is a modern piece of equipment not like my old McCormick Farmall, lol. I read the manual when I first took possession but missed some valuable information. For example don't change ranges unless stopped, RP means release pedal, and bring the RPM up to 1200-1300 when starting to work or drive it. The transmission fluid is not independent and uses the same fluid throughout the hydraulics so warming it up in colder weather is important and if you are going to use it consistently in really cold temps there is a change to a lower viscosity fluid required. People here are interested in The CVT so if you started a thread as to all you are doing with your machine and include some pictures you will get a lot of interest.

So again a far bit of my challenges with the tractor were do to my lack of experience with the newer technology so for me, RTFM, lol.

Thought I would give and update. I am right around the four hundred hours now with my tractor and it is still doing a great job. As stated earlier the issues I had were basically from lack of experience with this unit. Knock on wood she is running good, lol.

Still quite happy with my 2010 Boomer 8N as well. Like you, I had to go through a learning curve on the CVT.

How many of you have a problem with your cvt transmission and how many hours do you have to work with your tractor?
