'D' for 4wd?

\'D\' for 4wd?

Refresh my memory.. doesn't 'D' in amodel # denote 4wd?

I passed a 'new' yanmar dealer on 441 north of ocala this weekend and stopped to look at the tractors. Had a 1501d that was 2wd. Couldn't remember if that was right... in fact, all the d models he had were 2wd... the decals were applied to plaques rivited on the sheet metal... My 1700 wasn't that way.. but guess it could just be a coincidence.

I thought that was what the D denoted too. Bet he either got the wrong plate or someone along the way switched the model in an attempt to pass them off as 4wd model. I guess the question is what they actually are.

That's what I have always known it to be. I have a YMG1800D and it is 4WD

All my documentation refers to the D as 4Wd. But the replacement logos thet came with mine ommitted the D. Maybe he doesn't know better, or that was all he could get. Maybe.

I have a feeling that it is a deceptive dealer. All of the models there looked 'wrong'. He had a ym2000 there that looks smaller ( or the same size ) than my 1700.

As long as he is telling people the correct info on the tractors, at least he isn't being dishonest. This assumes that they are, in fact, the 2wd of the model that is on the sticker. The problem is that the unknowing may try to get pricing information on the D model and may over pay. Of course, I am assuming that they are actually yanmars.

They are yanmars ( heads / blocks have the raised yanmar casting ) , but the decals are wrong... and they deffinately aren't 4wd.

So its just a model deception or mistake. Put a label on that is a model with more hp and the unit is worth more. Buyer beware.

<font color=black>That is what i think. Either he honestly doesn't know what he has.. or he is trying to scam people who don't know what they are looking at.

I left the lot after seeing those obvious problems... didn't want tto take the chance that anything he was selling was what it was marked as.

It is just a mistake, probably got a good deal on the decals off ebay. At least it has decals. If the buyer is dumb enough to buy a 2wd expecting a 4wd because of the decals then he shouldn’t be operating machinery anyway and should be studied under hot lights. /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif
