Planning on welding 1 d-ring and two hooks on my minis 18" bucket, are my pictures good locations, is my setup an overkill? Might not mount d-ring just one or two hooks unsure yet. Will be using 7018 rod, prepped surface accordingly.

A hook of some kind on the back side of a bucket is a must do. I'm not sure about needing three. I'm also not sure of the need for the D-ring? Can you explain it's use?

Lol, I bought a box of them when I was rebuilding a trailer, much cheaper than buying individual so I have a few doing nothin I suppose I could use it to tie a knot for rope, or use it for a hook with a latch, attach a shackle for a strap?

In my long forgotten experience is the location ok?

I like the location of the D-ring in the pic. I'm not a fan of the hook at the outer edge of the bucket. I'd want the load centered on the bucket pins.

I prefer a D-ring of sorts on trailers to hook straps or chains.

My other idea is to use thumb for mounting them? However I've never used an excavator of any size with a thumb let alone mounting hooks or d rings on it. Plus I feel it might snag hydro lines when I start using a cutter on it.

You lost me there.....

When you say Grapple are you talking about a thumb?

Are you saying you have a rotary cutter attachment for your excavator?

Lol yes thumb, my former ss I had a grapple on my stump bucket. I'll edit. Yes after I sell a few more implements I'm not using anymore I'm getting a small rotary cutter or flail for my mini, it's plumbed for it, and aux hydraulics can handle a smaller one. I actually welded and used a d-ring hook combo on my stump bucket grapple, not the bucket itself. I'll look if I got a pic.

All I have,
Welded a beefy piece of scrap angle iron across the arc of grapple welded hook on top, ring on side/ bottom of angle, it worked good. Probably have to zoom.
