I expected the canopy to get damaged at some point, considering the amount of time I spend in the trees, but I also expected that the diesel noise would easily overcome the rattling of the afflicted canopy.

I must control my desire to exact revenge upon the aggressor tree with the Kioti, for it one of a large family planted by my arborist neighbor who could not stand to see such brutality against her "siblings". Surgical nibbling with a pruner can be tolerated, although even that would make her wince......

If the branches are over your property... they are fair game for you, at least back to the property line. :)

They're all one her property, Jim. We bought the farm from her and sold her the house and 5 acres back. She has since divorced from her abusive and sick husband, who threatened me. I had to be armed at all times to protect her from his repeated violations of the restraining order, until she was placed in a safe house after he placed a bloodied manequin in her bed. Then he came after me, where he learned the definition of real insanity. Self-preservation came back to him rather promptly!

She's become my second wife.....in a way....all the honey-do work without the benefits! I gave her a Troy-Bilt snowblower that I fixed up, and the first time she used it, a piece of shale wedged against the auger and broke the shear pin. I've drilled it, heated it, punched it, and still cant get it out of the drive axle. So....I'm back to plowing her out until my C-clamp press contraption succeeds.

I make fun of her, to her mostly, but she's a good lady with a major soft spot for all things living. She takes care of our horses, as they are in her pasture, which is quite a distance from our house. And holy cow...she feeds all sorts of critters. They're quite plump and tasty......:D

Hey Deputy, happy new year.

I've run into one of those "crazy domestic deals" one time myself (guy tried to run over my defenseless Nissan Sentra with his flat bed, just ended up smashing into it a couple of times and then pushed it up to the front door of his girlfriend's house sideways, I had his nine month old son in my hands the entire time, completely wacky situation, we had some interesting words in the police station that night, bottom line just sucks for all involved, including him, was not a cheap night for him). Totally unpredictable situations. The best defense with nuts like that seems to be an aggressive offense, you take one step back and you're toast.

Anyway sounds like it's quieted down which is good.

As for the tree, funny thing how trees have a way of falling down one their own sometimes, I've seen cases where a beaver's teeth are so sharp, you'd mistake the nibbles for chainsaw marks.

Have fun in the snow. Did you get the hose heater installed on the tractor?

Happy New Year!!

Yeah, things are fine now...it's been a year or so since. You're absolutely correct about offense. As my Dad advised me a long time ago: "If you do not allow something to happen, it won't. If you allow something to happen, it just might." That wisdom applies to just about any situation, contemplated or encountered.

I did not install the heater yet. Funny how the Kioti starts right up in frigid weather! My buddy at the body shop gave me some two-part epoxy for the ABS, with the warning that the affected are be clean, clean, clean and roughened before application. I'll get to it after I install the master bathroom jacuzzi....

I sold the Jinma last Wednesday, and I kind of miss the little beast already. Oh well, it was dead weight compared to the Kioti use. Regardless, it worked way out of its britches for me.

Appears you're enjoying the weather with the mini-boss! Good for you, that video was priceless!

BTW - I'm selling my KDX220R with only 160 miles on it.....if you have he desire to become youthful....again!:D

HI Deputy,

Fighting the urge to buy toys, the mini-boss will be in college before I blink.

She had a blast that night, funny though, she's not asked to try again since. She is totally into acting and singing and dancing, she's definately artistic like the Boss (was a make-up artist in LA).

The mini-boss was in an X-mass play this year at her acting school and had a blast, the older kids were just terrific with her.

Your Dad's advice is excellent, I'll not forget that, I can see where you get your smarts from.

I'm missing my little Kubota B6000E. Sold her this summer and miss her, but storing and caring for her was just not easy. One thing about these machines, I just don't like to let them sit unusued, just waiting for something to go wrong.

I am really liking my Kioti, absolutely perfect machine for me, and like yours, she starts surprisingly easily in the frigid cold. I still want to install heater, I just hate the thought of cutting a good hose. One of our friends on the site posted a great picture of his install which I've got printed out on me desk next to me, I'll get up the courage, buy a spare hose in case and get it done.

Post some pics of your fix, anxious to see how it comes out.

Won't be long before we are pestering rick for this year's cookout.

"That plastic welder looks like a good idea to have around. I'll probably buy that too."

Ha! If you'd known there was such a thing as a plastic welder you could buy you would probably have broken the shade on purpose months ago!

Note to others: I'm willing to bet that not only will a plastic welder find its way into The Deputy's gadget inventory, but that it'll be higher tech and higher priced than the one from Harbor Freight.

Can I borry it sometime? -WSJ

So, how much for the slime green smoke belcher? Still got all the orignal parts so it can be kept running? I never did buy one of the Chinese ones.

Sell me something with wheels before I buy another chainsaw . . . -WSJ
