I wonder if UL has a horse chew test? The cord has plastic armor like the Automotive stuff except it is not split.

Heck I could chew thru it. Also the plastic armor recedes back from the end of the cord over time leaving exposed cord. UL should have a spec of 4' of 0.035" stainless wire spring potted in a metal sleeve where it enters the bucket.

Slit some PVC pipe to cover longer runs or use conduit.
In any case a big dog could still chew threw it.

Once my huge lab got hold of a box of 30-06 ammo.

Wonder if he was attracted to smell of the powder propellant?

Chewed the casings so bad I'm surprised the rounds did not explode!

TSC took the damaged one back and refunded our Credit Card.

I slammed the rubber bucket on TSC and Amazon review.

We use the same API bucket. The blue ones are better than the green ones. The green ones only have a 2 prong plug! Also the lip on the blue ones seems stronger.

They claim you can hide the cord in the storage underneath and use all year. We will use them only during the cold and replace with regular buckets come spring.

As for your Rubbermaid trough.... yeah being careless can be expensive. We will probably put two out in the summer so we don稚 habe to fill as often.

Has not anyone learned form the Kiddie Fire Extinguisher recall.

40 Million fire extinguisher recalled and replaced at a cost of say $1 billion dollars, not such a good idea.

I think it may be safer to stay away from any product that does not get at least 4 to 4-1/2 stars as reviews are heavily scrutinized. Even then who knows?
