AB4D, good for you and I totally agree!
To me, as a pet owner, I expect, or perhaps even demand, that other pet owners be responsible owners. I willingly concede that some animals OCCASIONALLY get loose and stray from home, but the responsible pet owner gets the animal, brings it back, fixes the fence (
or door, or chain, or whatever) and the animal is basically somehow confined to the property for the vast majority of its life. My 2 dogs are both fixed (
I have both a male and a female) and neither stray off my land. Both have followed me to my neighbors, but neither have gone there without me first being there. We keep them fenced in a very large area and if a neighborhood cat, dog, or wild raccoon, rabbit or whatever ends up in that area . . . well folks but it won't survive

and I make no apologies for that because the animinal should not have wandered into that area.
For the pet owners who do not spay/neuter and let their animals roam 24/7, all I can say is that I hold them in contempt. They are screwing up the ecosystem and the habitat of the native wildlife. Depending on the breed & health & disposition/temperment of their pet, they may even be endangering children, adults & animals (
both domestic & wild) who encounter those animals.
To ANYONE who gets their panties in a bunch if someone shoots your free roaming animal/pet because it was perceived to be a nuscience then I am absolutely sorry but you should take a look at yourself and your values before you start to suggest that others are wrong. If people find these statements offensive, then realize I probably find your statements just as offensive. So be it.
