Are you sure it's tree rat's and not rat rat's?
Lots of squirrels here, but the only thing they bother is the garden....sometimes. They like green beans.
You night need to get one of these

Absolutely the best squirrel/rat/cat and anything else that moves deterrent there is....cost effective too. AND it will quickly become your best pal.
The only downside is.... They don't liver forever.

If they are squirrels, I'd get some cats, or cull the population and have dinner.

With the cats we have here (not my choice) I have not had dinner in a while. Poor me.

I had a thread on this last year. Neighbors to the north had flashing on roof chewed thru twice. Had water damage to sheet rock both times. Neighbor to the south had truck damaged three times. And I got out of my 93' Dakota at a store and had gas pouring out from under. All the work of the tree rats.

Neighbor to the north finally followed my advice and coated all lead or metal items on roof and house with roofing tar. Squirrels hate it. Neighbor to the south has had two more instances of his truck being damaged. I told his wife how to stop it and I think the last time they dropped the gas tank he had them to brush roofing tar all over the top.

Between the three of us we have probably killed fifty in the last year.

There are four playing in my front yard as of five minutes ago.

Along the same subject.........I just came in from cleaning a nest of Deer Mice out from under the hood of my Case 448 L&G tractor. In 30 some plus years, this has never happened. It is usually parked under some cedar trees with a tarp cover. This time it was parked on the patio with the tarp cover. What a stinking mess....and ....of course, they had chewed up the ignition switch and safety start switch wiring.

In cleaning up the mess with compressed air, I got showered with all that chit and baby mice flying everywhere.:ashamed:

Thankfully there are no squirrels anywhere in Aus. Mice are a nuisance when they sneak into my pantry... then die somewhere in the house after eating the 'rat sacks' I've got placed in there. <touch wood> The only damage I've experienced is the loss of my favourite saddle blanket after they built a winter nest.

Wag, your Australia is lucky that some goodie-to-shoes hasn't thought it would be nice if they brought some (squirrels) to inhabit the place.

After blowing that chit all over myself, I hope I don't get the Hanta Virus infection which is the usual mode of infection. But "Hey", life in the wild is full of spiders, snakes and stupid mistakes.
