Posthole Digger Danhuser F8 PHD

Hi all:

I own a 2002 Kubota B2710 (27HP) tractor and have an opportunity to possibly purchase a used Danhuser F8 post hole digger with 12" auger and I'm wondering if it is compatible. I haven't seen the PHD, but I'm concerned with my tractor being able to handle the auger.

Since I've only owned the tractor for a month and this is my first tractor, I'm not sure what I'm looking for in a PHD.

I have a Danhuser PHD that I got used years ago...have used lots... extremely tough machine. I'd recommend to anyone, particularly if price is right.

I would worry about your tractor being too low to the ground and that when attached the end of the auger would drag on the ground. 12 inches is what I have... really big hole... easy to bog the tractor down....

you will have to take it VERY EASY and drill down just a few inches, lift to get the dirt out of the hole, then go back in... it's all in how you use the auger... if you just plunge it into the ground, you will kill the engine and not be able to get the auger out of the ground without manually digging it out.. no fun. This is true for my 50ish HP tractor, will be even more so for yours.

My Dad has a Danhuser PHD w/12 " auger that gets mounted to a 1964 JD 4020 (95 HP) and I remember that the auger is only 5"-6" above the ground in the transport position on that size of tractor. As Texasjohn mentioned, you might have a height issue, but it wouldn't take much modification to get around that, IF the price is right.
