I have the opportunity to get a danuser post driver , a pto powered one for a couple hundred bucks . I dont have too much need to drive posts as of now , but here is what I am wanting to do . I want it to drive well points for shallow wells for irrigation systems . I would be going 35 to 40 ft . I am wondering if anybody has done this /

You can't get hurt for a couple hundred bucks, it will always be worth that.
The only thing I see is you'll be cutting & threading a lot of pipe as all the pounders I've seen are only good for 6'-7' posts.

I haven't done it since I don't think it would work for me. After I got through the one foot of top soil, I'd hit about five feet of clay, some hard caliche then rock. I have an aquifer at 120' but it's VERY mineral laden. Can't even spray it on plants or it kills them. They survive when I use it for drip irrigation though. There's another aquifer below that one at about 250' but its sulfur/iron content makes it smell like you're pumping sewer water.

I think I'd build a gas powered drill. There's plenty of plans and examples on U-got-tubed. Or you can buy the kits. For 40', I think I'd go with a drill.

If he's drilling in Severna Park, I'm pretty sure it's all sand.

That makes more sense than just Severna Park. :)

My uncle lived about 10 miles south of here and he had about eight feet of sand. I helped him put in a septic system and it was tough digging the tank hole. I had to dig a slope to get down to the bottom to keep the tractor from collapsing the sides and falling in. It also had to be extra large. Looked like we were strip mining when the hole was finished.

Just a few miles north of here, the soil changes to black gumbo and the aquifer is crystal clear. It's a little hard but you can drink it right out of the ground. Strange how the soil changes in such short distances.

You havent heard of "Severna Park" we were famous in 1977 , Johnny carson had us NUMBER 2 in the country for Pot useage . ( my first year of High School ) and I never inhaled .

My area is an over priced suburb of DC , Balto , and Annapolis . Its Yuppie Ville . I am the " Red Neck" of the neighborhood .

One weekend my neighbors were out raking leaves , or putting around on their riding mowers with baggers spending most of the day cleaning up . I break out a backpack blower and get my corners , then I pull the tractor out with a 3 point blower on the back . I blow my leaves in the woods in less than 1/2 hour . A neighbor commented on the tractor set up . I told him , the difference between men and boys is the size of their toys .

I have a feeling I've seen that same auction, hope the price stays low if it's the same one I'm thinking of.
Looks like a nice unit.

Nope, just saw it in my browsing and thought it would be interesting but I spent my money on a heavy drill press the other day. Every now and again I find stuff on that site that doesn't go stupid high.
I really want that Gehl skid steer.
