we just got one at work wih sn of 5568L44184

any ideas on age?

243's were built from 1999 to 2003. 165 cu in Perkins 3-cylinder diesel, 52 engine hp/47 pto hp. They were available in a 2wd or 4wd config. Tranny options as 8/2 or 8/8 speeds.

From the limited amount of info I have, the "L" in the serial # is the indicator of year model. In this case, it indicates the tractor as being a 2002 model. MF serial #'s are difficult to translate, as the sequence of numbers is shared by multiple models in most cases.

this is a 4wd one.. didn't notice the trans config.

i just saw the guys -trying- to unload it from the trailer this am.. and they couldn't get it to turn over.. had even changed out the battery in it!.. I steped over and kicked the pto off and told them to hit it again.. fired right to life... they thought I was a genius..

I let them keep thinking that and walked off.
