I woke up this morning and went out to get the Newspaper. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
It wasn't there. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
Came back in and started checking my email noticed that my computers time did not match the other clocks in the house. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
Then I remembered. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
It's over! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
Back to EST. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Except some people living in a state SW of here. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
They never figured out how to get on DST. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
A little DST info. Click Here.

Ron; Seems DST was thought up by night shift workers. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif Us daylight sensitive types have havoc wreaked on us twice a year. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

And yes, as soon as my sensitive self senses natural light, I'll get to the camera. Happy Halloween!!! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

The link proved interesting. I personally, do not like the time changes. Leave it one way or the other. I think I like standard time most.

Here in South Bend, IN we are stuck in time! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Our clocks never change but prime time TV comes on earlier when it gets dark later and later when it gets dark earlier... makes a lot of sense, doesn't it?

In June the sun sets around 8:25, unless you drive 6 miles north into Michigan or 100 miles east into Ohio, where it sets at 9:25. Or, in winter, you can drive 17 miles to the west towards Chicago and get there 45 minutes before you left. Makes for a slow ride home, though. That 17 miles takes an hour and 15 minutes! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I'm sure you know where I was referring to. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Most of the 37 years I worked for a company based in the Circle City.
Half the year they were the same time as us. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
The rest of the time they were lost in time. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

That is an interesting link. The only explanation I had heard was that DST was invented by an Indian whose blanket was too short, so he cut off a piece of the bottom and sewed it on the top.

Any idea how to reset the clock in my dog? She can't tell time, but can always tell me that it is 4 o'clock and it is time for her dinner. How do I explain the hour differance to her and her stomach???? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Actually, not just us. You did forget all of the fine people from the great state of Arizona who don't change their clocks, either.

Not even all of Indiana is immune to this madness. Some counties in our Northwest corner change with Illinois because they are so tied to Chicago's economy. Similarly, a few counties just across the Ohio River from Cincinnati and Louisville change when they change because of the economic ties. Of course, that means we have parts of Indiana which are NEVER on the same time.

I suppose I should add that we not only figured out DST but actually tried it back in the sixties. Like a lot of experimentation in the sixties, it proved to be a bad idea and that became evident with maturity and wisdom. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Hardly a year goes by without a bill in the state legislature to have Indiana embrace DST. Most years it's a bill to have us go to EST, but this year the idea was to go with CST like three of the four states we border. It failed, too, though by a lesser margin than usual.

As to the TV time issue, last year the four local network affiliates took it upon themselves to keep the 11PM news at 11PM all year. That has resulted in broadcast programs being played an hour later than they're actually broadcast through the summer so we have to refer to the CST time listed. I actually liked the late news at 10PM. Besides, I always knew which of our neighbors was on which time based on that simple daily reminder.

"Leave it one way or the other" ....WELL SAID. I personally hate DST and wish it had never been implemented where we live. Just having to change all the clocks and timers twice a year is enough to make me dislike the time switch.

Now that I'm retired I guess it does not matter if the time changes.

When I did Salmon fishing on Lake Michigan I could get up early enough to do sunup fishing.
Now that I fish Lake Ontario I cannot get up early enough to do sunup fishing. But I can do sundown fishing. Both areas are in the Eastern Time Zone. Actual Sunup and Sundown times are over 1 hour difference.
