Daylight Saving Time

Ron -- I'm with you. DSL really throws my internal clock out of kilter for a couple of weeks! I think the problem is all the animals (pets and livestock around us) are oblivious of the time change. They look at us like we're stupid for not knowing that it's chow time!

And now, instead of going to work in the dark and coming home in the fading light...I simply don't see daylight anymore! /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

I like that plan. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Then Junkmans dog would want to go out in the morning between 5:30 and 7:30 AM no matter what time of year it was. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

All I know is I "should" be going home right now but I have to work (well be here) for another hour

Why not just split it up............a half hour each way & then never change it ??????????? The answer !! ( Man...that was way too easy !!) I'm sure some politican could even screw that up !!

I am going to even go one step further. Not only should we get rid of DST, but we should also switch to a single time zone all around the world. Time zones are a completely arbitrary slicing of the planet anyway. Who really cares if you happen to get up at 21:00 to go to work, as long as it is daytime at your geographic location, who cares?

What exactly would be the benefit of this?

I can't see one. It would wreak havoc on business. It is easier to just assign time zones and then keep them there.

Here in Indiana, I wish we would go on Chicago time and do away with DST. They are much closer and it would make more sense.

First, let me say that I would very much like to see that happen, too.

Second, let me say that while Chicago may be closer to you and me, that argument isn't going to hold much water down on the Ohio River where Indiana is just across the bridge from Cincinnati and Louisville. They'd like to see EST year 'round because Louisville and Cincinnati are closer to them. That's probably why this will never change here. It's going to be a political battle for the ages.

As I recall, Cincy is on the same side of the river as us /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif.

I agree with you, though. Hey, let's just deed the SE counties to OH and get it over with. In a state as small as Indiana, we should all be on the same time all year.

A common point of reference for all persons on the planet. We all have the same foot, the same meter (metre), etc. There are other discreppancies, but those should be equalled also in my opinion.
