Daytime running lights

We have it mandated for the daytime running lights and at first I thought it was BS, But the first time a vehicle came out of a shadow and all I saw was the lights I was a believer.
Vehicles with the big driving lights, I put on my high beams, I have a 3500 GMC, it is high enough that their highs do not bother me. I hit a deer one time because some jerk was going slow with those bug eye lights all on.
The reason people have lights burnt out is most people never check them.
I service vehicles and find many with no brake lights or turn signals, only one head light. Mind the rant.

"usually a slight pull up on the parking brake shuts them off"

Wow, chopped-- Hadn't thought of that! Must be getting old!! (I think I'll try it...)

I routinely check ALL lights on our vehicles and my tractor at least twice a month. And for those who say GM products seem to have DRL bulbs that burn out frequently, my 12 year old GMC has only needed one replacement so far. Our pair of 2004 GM cars, still have both OEM DRL bulbs.

Check with the Nissan parts department, and see if they sell an authorized module to add DRL's.

I have installed them from several different OEM's parts departments over the years.

Sometimes they plug in, and sometimes you have to do some wiring.

DRL's no doubt reduce accidents. So, I like to add them, even when the vehicle does not come with them.

Plug in module if your vehicle has the proper harness. Mopar sells the module for it on Jeeps and Dodge trucks. But if you don't have the harness, not much good. Wanted to add them to my Cherokee but don't feel like doing a lot of wiring at this point.

I would not call that a lot of wiring.

Even if you use a universal module it's a 30 minute job, including the time put your tools away.

It's more than I want to deal with right now, just no time for such projects.

DRL's have been law up here since hmm 1988 or so? They work great, let you see vehicles much easier in all conditions. Its pretty noticeable when a non drl US vehicle is driving the other way as they have to be about 50% closer before you notice them.

I wish motorbike's all had, them, those suckers are hard to see in busy city traffic on a greyish day.

I remember 20 something years ago when I was in the armed forces, we were always taught to drive in convoys with lights on around civilians on highways. Back then, 1 in 1000 had lights on during the day....today 1 in 1000 don't. The only problem that has developed with daytime running lights, some drivers forget to activate their normal night-time driving lights with all markers and tail lights on:confused2:
See or be seen through the Christmas Holidays:thumbsup:

Merry Christmas!!

Heck, they do that here even without the DRL's.

Back when DRL's started becoming commonplace, the joke went:

"How will other drivers be able to tell when the funeral procession ends...."
