Dead beat dad.???

We live close to one of these Welfare, Earned Income Tax Credit families. Neither parent has worked for years once they found out how to work the system. Welfare gives them food money for them and their five girls, a place to live and free medical. They sell some of their food each month to get spending money. They get clothes from outreach programs and donations. When the kids are in school, they eat breakfast and lunch at school for free.

We try to help the girls some as my wife has made some clothes for them, like dresses for graduation for when the older girls graduated from grade school and we get toys for the smaller kids at Christmas and their birthdays. It's not the kids fault.

This thread kinda reminds of a woman I used to work with.

Every Monday morning we at the office would get a report on what her neighbors were up to - specifically whether they set out what she felt was an abnormally large amount of trash for collection ...

Evidently, with binoculars, she had a really great view of 'em ... from her trailer ...

She usually asked us what we thought they might be setting out for the trashman ... and really, really wanted to have an extended discussion about it ...

I think everyone else in the office (besides herself) thought she was nuts ...

Yeah John, sounds like a "not your pig, not your farm" type situation. My advice is just put him from your mind and concentrate on the things in your life that you have control over. Getting mired down in someone else's problems when they really have no effect on you is a bad way to spend your time. Same goes for people who are always wanting to complain and whine to you about their problems. Misery spreads misery, no sense in going searching for it, it finds you easy enough on its own.
