There are a couple of threads that talk about the brake shoes for a BX costing around $75, but I did not see any total costs for having the dealer do the whole job.

Has anyone had this done? (and what did it end of costing?)

From the way it looks, it seems like a fairly consuming project that is probably best left to the dealer (as much as I hate to say that)

Im not sure but figured I would get on this thread since I know I will have to change mine out soon. Due to how easy it is to leave the parking brake on and hit the hydro pedal.

How many hours you have to have to wear out the brakes? with the hydo trans I don't think I have use mine for hardly anything but parking and that puts no wear on them.

Also how do you know when a brake job needs to be done?

so when you run out of adjustment you are out of brake pad? seems logical

Still seems like they would/should last almost forever to me

The tractor only has 300-400 hours on it, but like many others I have accidently left the brake on when using the tractor. I would like to think all it will take is a slight adjustment, but right now I get NOTHING when I hit the brakes.

Based on these comments from another thread ... I am guessing mine are toast

Service manager called today with the lowdown. The brake pads/disks whatever they are were toast. He said that they had gotten so hot that they turns blue. This had to be from being maladjusted, as I hardly ever use the brakes. It was probably dragging like a partially set parking brake the entire time. I have to pay for the new brakes, about 75 bucks. The labor will be warranted.

After gettting them adjusted or replaced, I was thinking about wiring in a "brake light warning light" on the dash to give me that added kick in the head to make sure it does not happen again.

Has anyone had any luck adjusting them? How is it done? (I have not looked into it at all - I have the service manual ... I guess I should read it!)

If it's like the BX2200, and I think it is, it is real easy to adjust. The rods from the pedal to the brakes has an adjustment nut on each side under the floor, really easy to get to.

Thanks ... I will give it a shot

I say adjust them too. It shouldn't take 30 minutes to adjust the brake rods. I REALLY doubt they need replacing. Do your best to adjust them evenly, so when you apply the brakes the tractor doesn't want to make a left turn (or right turn!).

The BX24 only has one rod. Easy to adjust. Look at your owner's manual. It has the details.
