Hi All:

I haven't posted in a while, we're in the middle of putting up our new house. My local dealer, from whom I did *not* buy my tractor, has come through for me in a big way on the battery corrosion problem. He picked up the tractor in October, went to bat for me with New Holland on the many parts that had been corroded by the battery, and installed a new radiator, battery table, cables, clamps, hold down bracket, and everything else that had been even minimally touched by corrosion - including the left front ball joint. When he picked it up, I handed him a 51R Yellow Top, and asked him to not replace the original battery with an OEM. He called me at the end of October when he was finished, and told me that he had driven past our new place and noticed construction going on. He offered to keep the tractor under roof for the winter. Last week, without prepayment, he had the tractor delivered to our place (still under construction - going well.) I went last Saturday to pay him and to say "Thanks!" in person. Total for all that work and storage? $182.37 - towing both ways.

I've written before to share some misery related to this tractor purchase, and I am thrilled to write and share some joy. I wish it wasn't a no-no to name dealers - this guy really delivers. Gary, (owner of dealership,) thanks so very much! I hope your son is still having a great time in his new position at NH Corporate!

Is it a "no-no" to name a dealer??? I've seen it done regularly here - My feeling is if this fellow and dealership have come through for you what's the harm? I think we all like to read stories like this, and folks that offer that kind of service should be praised here - thats why we share info here! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Good Luck on the new house too - I'm starting next spring. This year I'm finishing up the place we're in to try to get top dollar.

Take Care.

Jim, "advertising" without the prior approval of TBN is a no-no, but members posting the name of a dealer is not. You might want to review the terms of service. Of course, your comments were complimentary about the dealer, but the terms of service also outline what is a no-no as far as derogatory information is concerned.

OK, here is the name of the dealership that has gone the extra mile for me, even though I didn't buy the tractor from them:

Lewis Equipment II in Crystal Lake, IL. The manager's name is Gary Mac Phail.

Thanks for the prodding you guys - you are right, a good dealer should get his due.

Jim, it's nice to hear that there are dealers who are going the extra mile to give their customers super service. Nothing beats the good feeling of knowing you have a dealer who will support you when you need them. ...and you WILL need them sooner or later. Good story! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
