Sorry Bird, I should've thrown a little more sarcasm into my statement... /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif Bad attempt at a joke I guess /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif Regardless, keep up with the good work that you do, it's very much appreciated.

Nothing to be sorry for, Josh. I took it as a joke; just had to respond, though. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I guess I would be against it. Too many times there is two sides to each story. How many dealers are there the are members of TBN. So for the most part we would only get one side. I also don't think we want to solve people/dealer issues here on TBN and that is exactly what I think would happen. How many times have we have people join TBN, make one or two really bad posts about a product and then we never hear from them again. As a business owner I would be against it as we have Chamber of Commerce's, we have the Attorney General's and we have Better Business Bureau. That is their roll, let them do it. As I said before more than likely the dealer is not a member of TBN nor does he visit enough to see even if there was a problem and now we have someone slamming a dealer and he has no chance to say his side.

As far as a law suit, that is a tough one. I have an X employee that I believe is running around calling customers, venders and other employees stating that I am filing bankrupcy within 6 months. A friend of his even stood up in a Chamber of Commerce meeting and told other business owners in our town I was filing bankruptcy in the next few months. I have consulted two attorneys and they both said, don't waste your time. Slander is a very tough thing to prove and if there is even a chance/slim chance that I will file bankruptcy in the next year he would win. In other words a dealer would tough to win if someone did say something.

Also when I hear someone Rant and Rave I usually think less of that person, don't know why I just do???

So in a nut shell I would be totally against having a Dealer Rants and Raves.

I had almost the same thing happen to me as theri had with a X employee. Talked with my Attorney and ask me ....how can you prove it ?? [save your time and money].

Soooo I did a little direct Advertizing to the people I knew had heard the false statements from this X employee telling them how we are celebrating our 12th year and are still growing etc......

"If you can't say something good about someone, don't say anything at all"..... (That will keep you out of civil court)

If a friend/fellow TBN member/interested party would like my opinion on a PARTICULAR dealer, feel free to ask....via PM or e-mail. I'll give an honest opinion, based on my experiences with that dealer.

HOWEVER..... Broadcasting my displeasure with anyone, for the entire world to see and read, is not MY style, nor is it an ethical business/personal practice.

Speak well of those who you are pleased with, and by proccess of elimination, we'll figure out who the "bad guys" are.....

BAD IDEA.

Perhaps you've heard the term:
Your Mileage May Vary

No truer words were ever spoken - especially about a dealer.
Just imagine this:
You take the dealer a tractor problem that is easily handled under warranty. Boom. Fixed so fast, you almost think they were anticipating your arrival with the problem. Done. Customer leaves happy. (result: good anecdotal evidence)

That afternoon, Joe Q. cotton-picking (or combining, or some other harvesting type) contractor shows up with a major problem - again - something that could (and should) be handled under warranty. This part, let's say a casting that's key to the operation on the machine, breaks. Dealer checks and the nearest one is right off the assembly line, 2000 miles away. Joe Q is fit to be tied, after all, he's racing the weather to get said crop in before bad weather hits. Dealer has done everything in his power to make this happen for Joe. Joe wants legal action so dealer can assume some of the loss that will occur. (result: bad anecdotal evidence)
Chances are someone could run into both of these people in the parking lot at the dealer and overhear the conversation.
Who would you believe? If you've never been to this dealer, and you heard both stories before you come into the dealer, you will end up with a prejudice. Not good.
Just my $0.02.

Indydirtfarmer,
You are a very wise soul. I couldn't have said it better myself.
These dealers can fool some of the people some of the time, but they can't fool everyone all of the time.

Your business & your dollars will weed out any shady dealers. It's the American way. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Josh, after a second reading I detected your comment as being tongue in cheek. I wondered if others would. However, knowing how Bird is, I also knew he wouldn't be offended either way, being the easy-going fellow that he is.
