Same as the Power Trac slope mowers, and the PT's have FEL's Tillers, All sorts of cool toys... Just no resale...
So are you saying you are not opposed to the dual rears? I'm not trying to put words in your mouth, it just sounds like a point of interest from your statement and your original question. If that's the case, I think you could get bolt on duals for about any tractor. I'm still of the opinion they would help tremendously in stability as well as traction on your off road chores. And in your case, IMO, the benefits outweigh the (possible) negatives by a long shot.

I am not sure about Dual Rears. If they work, and give me the stability of the PT line, or close to it, it would be less expensive, more optioned direction for me to go in. I posted a new note with how my land lays out.

It looks like it would get a tractor to around 20 degree slopes safely, not sure if the front would have to be dualed or heavily dished out to ensure stability.

The problem with the above is that no one I have spoke to sells any adapters for CUT Duallies. Seems to be a custom build, although I just saw a link to a chinese tractor that came with them stock..

I am still 2 months out on the purchase (trying to get back to LA but we are sort of iced in at the moment).

I will take some pix tomorrow if the weather is good. Dozer is off the list. Found out the neighbor has a dozer and is happy to come over and re-cut some logging trails in exchange for allowing him and his wife to ride their horses on the property.... Seems like a fair trade to me....

Brushhogging and road repair are number one on my list. I have on my implement wish list Brush Hog, Box Scraper, Grapple, Bucket, Post Hole Digger.... Chipper, Tiller, Backhoe, Blade are all on the next job (long term) list...

Thought I had it all figured out until this dealer weighed in with the dualies. From as many previous posts as I have seen, I have to think he is lying. I will stop by his shop and check it out...

If it is possible for you, I would hire a capable dozer to reshape and contour the land in a basic way that you could buy a tractor that didn't have to work in extremes, and finish the job to your liking? Unless there is environmental issues to prevent it, you would save money in the overall project, and also reduce the "misery index." There is nothing worse than working with a tractor in a "threatening atmosphere" filled with dread! Was this an unfinished project from the prior owner who didn't think about some of the issues; or was the maintenance upkeep hired out? A D-8 can move a lot of dirt, trees, and brush in a short time, or is the property already terraced and landscaped? Also, engineering drawings may be required for the changes? I didn't read your original post or know the size of your property. I also spent the first eighteen years of my life in the "rain belt" on the Olympic Peninsula which makes me aware of drainage and runoff. The way I see the problem; several different tractors will need to be purchased to make the changes before you have a "keeper!" Dollars will be lost on each tradeout??

Carl,
I'm the one who posted that link.
And there is a dealer here on TBN that carries them.
Bluechip posts in the Chinese section where he mentions them.

Ahhh The stories I could tell about our little slice of heaven. 40 acres, a previous owner who is in the pokey for Meth processing. Owned a D-8 and drove all over the property, sometimes at 3 and 4 in the AM much to the chagrin of the neighbors. Did crazy things on this property, like ponds (or big holes in the ground), roads to nowhere, weird weird stuff, all hidden under the brush.. I nearly fell into a 20X50' pond the other day. Walked by it a hundred times and the blackberries had hidden it well... Oh, did I say the cops came by the other day and told us to look for a burial mound. Apparently the old owner also had a partner who went on "vacation". I don't think the county has much to say, as long as I stay out of the ravines where the streams are...

This all said, there is a 6 year period where the land was unused. Now it is 3" to 6"" alders and blackberry bushes as high as my head.

At this point I cannot see the property clearly. My hope is to get in, get as much as I can safely do done, and then get a cat in and create my grand scheme (whatever that may be). I know I can't get it all with a tractor, but something that will help maintain over the years, including the steep stuff, would be great.

Hope you fared well on the wind storm...

Set the wheels out as far as you can. This should do as much good as duals. If they are loaded that puts the weight out as far as possible also.

Not really. Most wheels can be set out only a few inches from minimum settings which will increase the overall track by 5-6 inches. Adding dual tires will increase the track width by at least 20-24 inches.

Thanx for the "classic answer on your property!" Now living in Northern Ca.,(40 yrs.), the biggest fear over the last decade, is "Sudden Death Syndrome," which attacks our Oak trees. Spores, the size of a silver dollar develop on the bark are a clue the trees are in trouble, but the trees look healthy and green! However, inside the moisture is being sucked out at a rapid rate, causing the trees, still showing no signs of death will topple over under no wind conditions. The disease hasn't been abated, but the latest cause is believed it's being transmitted by winter rains or birds, but that's conjecture only? We have spent out of pocket the last 10 yrs. close to $20,000 having the trees cut down only; insurance coverage isn't available either. It is also illegal to sell the diseased wood for firewood! We had three vehicles crushed too! The diameter of these trees range from 18" to 24." No cure in sight! Many thousands have been lost.
