JD 4700, Kubota BX2370-1, Kubota RTV1140CPX, Kubota F3060, Club Car Precedent
My in-laws had their JD dealer pickup their 2013 JD 2720 for the "annual service special - $299" last week. It also had a couple leaks at the quick-couplers for the loader hydraulics that were to be fixed.
Their total bill was just under $530. Yesterday, when I was at their place, I checked the machine against the service invoice. There were several items on the list that were obviously not completed, including grease entire machine, grease mower deck, clean radiator and screen, clean and spray battery terminals. While we can fix those relatively easy items, I suggested they call the dealer and ask for at least $60 off of their bill. This JD dealer and the next closest one really seem to stink. I've not been impressed with either in my own dealings in the past and my in-laws recent dealings (this event and others included) While I like the JD products, I don't like either dealer close to us, which I why I no longer own any JD products and are using the Kubota dealer. Any other experiences with dealers not completing tasks that were paid for?

So what did they do? A 530$ oil change?

What part of PA are you in? I had problems with a JD dealer not fixing a shifting issue on my Gator until I called the salesman and asked how to get in touch with the regional representative from Deere. The gator was supposedly test driven by the service technician before it was returned to me still broken. The service manager was pissed that I complained to the salesman, but too **** bad. It was fixed the second time around and runs okay now. Wish I had bought a kubota UTV instead. I have a Kubota tractor and that dealer is great. I bought a Exmark ZTR from them.

This is why I prefer to do my own servicing of tractors and cars if I can. For my automobiles, this is almost exclusively oil changes since everything else requires an analyst computer to do. Cost for auto oil changes are not significantly cheaper than I can get it done at a JiffyLube but if I do it myself, I know what kind of oil and filter I am getting. Not saying they would use cheap bulk oil and say it was synthetic, but who knows what is coming out of those bulk drums. The last oil change I had done, I found the dip stick laying on the radiator 250 miles down the road which is what prompted me to no longer get my cars serviced at cheap facilities.
I even offered to do my next door neighbors vehicles rather than him spending $38 for a dino oil change for his truck. I can do a change in half the time it takes to drive to the closest facility to do it and for that cost, I can do it with full synthetic.

For what it is worth, I cant see any yearly service or required service that would cost 530 bucks. Maybe the major portion of that was pickup and delivery charge (I haul my own equipment so that wouldn't apply to me anyway).

"Dealers" are often referred to as "Stealers", and that is VERY often TRUE!

I was going to buy a JD last year and Jd here did the dealer shuffle. By the time I decided word was getting out the new owners service sucked bad. So I bought a Kubota. Now the farms in the area many which have been JD all their life have switched to New Holland. I went by the NH dealer last week and it looked like JD was using the NH lot for parking space. I am not one bit sorry I bought a Kubota

Sounds like a pretty typical JD dealer to me. Had my dealer in Texas pick up my 6300 to fix an electrical problem. I was living 12 miles from the dealer's shop at the time, and he tried to charge me over $500 for pick up and delivery. Needless to say, we had to do a little discussing over that and he finally cut it by half, which I thought was still pretty ridiculous.

IMHO, anytime you see a 'service special', it means 'bring us money, you might get a little service, but BRING US MONEY'

Neighbor of mine took his car into a local ripoff service place and got charged for service to a maintenance free battery. (no, then didn't clean or spray the terminals either)

The hourly rate at the local (Fl.) Mercedes dealer is $165 per hour (obviously I do not go there with my 20 year old car).
That is the BOOK rate! If the book says 3 hours, but the mechanic gets it done in 2 hours, you are charged 3 x $165 for the job.
THAT is why they are called..... "STEALERS"!!!

I am the shop supervisor for a decent sized Kubota and Bobcat dealer. I promise you we miss stuff and make mistakes. I have 12 techs with varying skill levels, not a single one of them is perfect 100% of the time. I am not there to rip you off. I take it personally when a mistake is made or we miss something, and make sure we go out of our way to make it right. If you call me a thief or liar we will have problems.

I would give the dealer a call and bring the oversight to their attention. That's when you'll find out if they're a dealer with integrity.

Surely we all have had bad experiences at various servicing dealers... even the good ones can fail to do everything they were supposed to- I bought a used L3130 from a "quality" dealer who supposedly went over the tractor, but still it was delivered with a missing loader zerk, and a bent nail where a loader pin bolt was supposed to be... minor stuff, but makes you wonder? Don't get me started on auto dealers! I do appreciate a dealer that tries.
