- Down to my lovable little red Mahindra with FEL, and backhoe.
In 1969 I had to take a short diesel course in the Navy so that I could drive tractor-trailers. One of the things that stuck in my mind was how they emphasized that we should never leave the tractors in gear when parked, as the clutches had a tendency to freeze.
I kind of thought it was like my mother telling me not to cross my eyes, as they might stay that way. Well, I still don't cross my eyes, I don't leave vehicles in gear when I park them, and I disable the tractor clutch if I know it is going to sit for a few weeks or more.
