Dealer Dealers are strange businessmen sometimes.

Woodbeef,

That sounds good in theory, however, on some auto boards, instead of asking for advice or info, a lot of memebers immediately discount what a dealer has to say. I am a auto dealer, and I usually keep that info to myself on the many auot boards I visit. It's funny, I have noticed that here too, on another thread a dealer posted some great trade-in information...something that is unavailable to the CUT crowd....and immediately he was blasted as having wrong information....

You wouldn't be referring to the trade-in information taken from a 2003 book that was over 12 months old would you?

hmmm.....the 2004 edition of the book........is readily available at Amazon.com

and immediately he was blasted as having wrong information....
The word used was "dated information."

If you were referring to a different thread you'll have to pardon me. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I actually have to thank the JD dealer. That is the next time that I see him. He helped me decide on the KUBOTA that I now own. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Real simple....he was trying to help, and his information was correct in general terms. No body else posted any other documneted facts...just opinion. And yes, I was referring to your bashing, and lack numbers.

What the dealer posted was accurate for the information, and unless you can post actual figures, you are just blasting opinon that means little except to forward your own agenda.

It's not worth rehashing an old thread. There's two sides two every story.....

Hey! Your talking about me! Just an FYI, the blue book that actualy contains the numbers your talking about has not been updated yet. There are several 2004 books out, but the ones I have don't include Zetor, Kioti, Etc... As a dealer those companies are very aggressive about making sure we know when the newest information is available since we are the ones who buy that stuff. Most of those numbers are just trend analysis. A newer edition will just show more depriciation and a continuation of the trends that are seen. I don't know what you would be expecting to see from a newer book?

I don't see how any of this applies to the current thread.
Shame Shame, get back on topic!

Maybe I am justa "good 'ol boy", but if I want to buy something and the salesman lacks courtesy, I pack my wallet and head somewhere else. I don't understand why some people have so much trouble being polite.

I can tell you what a Local MF/NH dealer just told me a couple weeks ago. He siad "That d*^% internet was not a good thing for his Dealership. He said today, many customers come in and think they know all the answers about a tractor or piece of equipment from information they have gathered on the internet. He said one guy argued that the salesman was not informed because the salesman quoted HP at 21 and the Internet informed fellow promptly corrected him that is was actually 20.5. This attitude continued point by point and eventually, put this dealer in the mood that "if I sell this guy a tractor he is going to be a pain in the butt" and he made a decision to not sell the guy anything because it was not going to be worth the $800 profit margin on the unit--We run across that situation occasionally and usually, with patience, and the asking the right questions of the customers and responding with common sense solutions to thier needs, we make the sale-- Ken Sweet
