..yea, my point exactly. Unless your totally PTO bound, I don't see the sense in it.

I know your job is to sell tractors but the guy seems pretty set on a 4520. They are good tractors and it doesn't matter if you can justify it, only he needs too. And I'm sure you would be able to justify it if he was buying a Kubota or new holland from you. I'm looking to add only about 14 HP to a new tractor I'm looking at and it makes sense to me because I need a little more HP and a little larger frame for some new work that I have to do, would it make sense to some others, probably not - but I don't care, because I can justify it.

I agree with Neil. You are not gaining much, merely trading a CUT for a CUT.

Truly going bigger would mean stepping into a utility tractor. Not just size, but build too.

Good luck with the purchase. Hope you get top dollar for your trade.

I'm not selling anything. Just giving advice like anyone else.

Your here to give advise but also promote your brand. My point is that he can justify it then that's all that matters. I'm looking to do the same thing right now and it makes sense for me. It would be cheaper for me to get the exact right tractor than adapt my tractor to something that will just work.

I'm not saying that your wrong in trying to help just trying to provide the other side if the coin.

There's a lot of things that I liked about the JD 4520's when I looked at buying my NH a couple of years ago. The cab, while small is the most car like in my opinion. However, in my estimation a tractor's ability to do work is also based upon its weight and stance. I felt like for the amount of money that JD wanted for a 4520 that it should have been a much heavier and physically bigger tractor. I really disliked the feeling of the 3720 that I looked at, as I felt it was way too tippy. I ultimately was deciding between a MF 1643 or 1648 and the New Holland Boomer 3040 and 3045. A cab was non negotiable for me because I wanted to sit in air confitioning when I mowed. I thought that the NH cab was the best in the industry and still do, while I really liked the transmission that MF had to offer. Ultimately I went with NH because the dealer was the best I had dealt with and I still feel that they are the best dealer in the area regardless of brand based upon my experience. Good luck with your tractor purchase, as long as you're happy that's all that matters.

Out of curiosity what is the difference between a 3045 and a NH workmaster 45? Why one over the other?
