I ditched my GMC dealer a few years ago over their "clock" practices...meter started running from when the truck was pulled into a slot whether anybody was looking at it or not...I was in the waiting area and witnessed it all. Prior to the arrival I knew what the problem was and further knew that GM would pay 25 minutes to confirm what I already knew (from their web-site). I was handed a bill for 2 hours labor at which point I paid it and declined any further work (that really PO'd the very rude service writer...said I should not believe the internet even after I told her it was the official GM web-site). That dealer is buying up all the other dealerships in the area but that $100 is enough to make me look to Ford or Dodge for my next truck. I know use a local mechanic for routine service work.

Those dealer service writers work on commision so they won't lose too much sleep over you coming back pissed because something's not been repaired properly, they'll just find something else to charge you for.

My gripe with her was not over the problem being fixed rather I already knew what the problem was...was willing to eat the 25 minutes rack time for them to confirm what I already knew (the VCM communication system) but when I watched the truck go in, sit for an hour+ and then get looked at and then given a bill for 2 hours labor and then an estimate of another $600 to fix it, I called her out. She went "nasty".

Like I had a thumping noise rt rear with nothing in the rear compartment.
They changed a link and charged me $120. This was I week out of warranty.
Drove a couple of blocks and thump thump was still there.
I demanded to see the replaced part and as a certified aviation mechanic declared the part totally serviceable.
They offered to re install the used (good) part but at $80.00/hr.
I spoke to management and was blow off.
So far I believe I have diverted at least 1/2 dz buyers from that dealership.

Another time I needed a fan relay and phoned around mainly to locate the part.
They quoted me, like $8.67 so I said 'order it'.
Ehen I came to pick it up they handed me an invoice for like $ 34.00. WTF
I had notes as I had called 4 sources trying to locate that relay.

The clerk called me a liar that he never quoted me that price.

Oh, and on web sites that relay is in the low dollars.

Today if the computer can't be plugged in they knowest not what part to sell you.
Its call 'shotgun repairs'. Great for parts sales.

Give me a freelance back woods mechanic any day, the one with greasy hands and dirty coveralls.

I use the reviews on google maps to locate services, hotels, and restaurants when traveling. A couple of years ago I started leaving reviews myself mainly for small business that I liked because it helps the business and other people who are looking at reviews. Unlike some folks who leave reviews about stupid chit or when their really pissed I'm fair and accurate in my reviews because I am a business owner myself and know the damage that can be done by these idiots in a moment of rage. That being said if I find a business to be sub par or just plain lousy I have no problem posting my experience to hopefully help others from having a bad experience. People are starting to pay more attention to these reviews because I have seen how much the # of reviews has grown in the last few years. So next time your having a bad time at one of these crappy dealers let them know that you'll be sure to leave them a very nice review and probably post it on a few forums as well .

I've had similar problems with my daughters car and an oil leak. First it was oil pan gasket, 2nd trip they put dye in. that time it was front and rear seals and intake gasket. still leaking and 3rd time its the timing chain cover. luckily I had an extended warranty but still has cost me close to $400. If its still leaking when I change oil I'm thinking about going to another dealer and go from there. Any addition advice I'd like
