Does anyone know the make of the lift valve? I called Keith at Power Trac and the decant valve kit costs $128.00, the kit consists of a ball, spring, and a few "O" rings. When mowing with my tractor and hitting bumps the valve will pop out of the float position, any help would be greatly appreciated.

I thought mine was Sauer Danfoss maybe? (check spelling)
I'd have to go out and look and it is a tad late tonight!

Also, check to make sure the linkage is tight. I recall someone finding a loose nut under the joystick that would cause problems.

I also think the word you are looking for is DETENT, not DECANT.

Maybe 30 min of your time may fix your problem.

Have you tried taking off the bottom caps and inspecting and cleaning the groove on the spool that the little balls sit in when in float.

Clean out the groove and replace the balls if rusted.

You might even be able to spin the spool around 180 degrees and see it that helps.

If water and rust is indicated, make sure the hole or groove in the cap is at the bottom, or, able to drain, or drill a hole to let the water out of the cap.

Is your valve a two spool or a three spool valve, and can you see a name or letter on the valve.

Is anyone satisfied with the way their valve works? Mine has always jumped out of float too easily.

So has mine -- personally I think it is because of the weight of that long, curved control lever...

A lot of times you can replace the springs for your detent, or sometimes you can just tighten the two little "bolts" on the sides of the detent cap.

Yes, I am very satisfied with mine. I don't recall it ever popping out on its own. Only when hitting a tree branch of something.

Do you happen to know which specific model of 3-spool valve is used on the 422/425? They offer more than one...

The 422 and 425 used the 1637 valve.
The valve TAG # should be 156B2294 ( Sauer Danfoss number )

The 180 used the 1627 valve.

This information should be verified through PowerTrac....IF they are willing to give out the Sauer Danfoss tag#. They have a habit of blacking out or removing the OEM tags on the White wheel motors and the control valves.

If I'm not mistaken the larger PT's ( 1430 & up ) used the same Sauer Danfoss series valve.( 1637 ) Covering model years 2002 through mid to late 2000's. I don't know if PowerTrac uses the same valves on their new PT units.

The pool cue length articulated linkage joystick  that is used on the 422 & up is a PT design ( not sauer danfoss )

Thanks for the details! This is really helpful.

I've had to clean out the check valves on the detent, but since then it has been smooth sailing. (Knock on wood!)

All the best,

Peter

SAUER DANFOSS VALVES

The Sauer Danfoss 1600 series valves used on the PT 180, 422,425, Etc. is now being manufactured and supplied by Quality Control Corp. Sauer Danfoss no longer handles them.

Ditto the above -- Thanks for the details.

It sounds like I should try to clean out the detent valve on mine...

Meanwhile, I was hoping to see that there were cable controls available for the Aux PTO valve, but that doesn't appear to be the case. A cable control, mounted to the dashboard on the left of the steering wheel (instead of my shadetree engineering) would be the "cat's meow..."

Thanks again, Beech! We miss your regular contributions here -- as you "pushed the PT envelope" when you had one...

Thanks Kent.
When I converted the 2 spool (1627 ) on the 180 over to the 3 spool (1637 )
to add AUX. HYD's to run my minihoe & Hyd. boom lift I was going to mount the two spool OEM valve to the left side of the steering console for future AUX HYD. hookup's at the rear of the PT, but I never got around to it. I was going hook it up VIA. the power beyond port
on the right side of the control valve...as you're facing the control valve handles from the operators seat.

Thanks for all of the good information, I'll pass it along to my neighbor he own a hydrolic shop. I plow out his snow for him. I had to change the coils on my Robin this winter, engine was hard to start and started popping through the carb. We had to pull the engine to change them but, starts and runs good now I have over 1300 hours on it.
