Hello all,
Really appreciate all the great info here guys... I decided to buy a tractor about 6 months ago and did a lot of research primarily here to get some great advice.
I pulled the trigger about 2 weeks ago... I picked up an L2501 HST with a box blade, an SSQA FEL, and LP root rake grapple. I turned that first weekend into a 3 day weekend with the tractor, I put over 9 hours on it that first weekend. So far I love it! Very happy with the L2501. I started with the plan to go with a BX-25D. Quickly decided that I wanted something a bit bigger. Let go of my desire for a backhoe for now so that I could take a step up in size. In the end it was between the B2650 and the L2501. I test drove them both and was definitely a fan of the heavier/beefier L series. For anyone on the fence, I'm totally satisfied with the amount of power provided even in this heavier frame.
I own 5 acres of high altitude AZ desert land with lots of junipers, oak brush, and Arizona willows. The land has quite a bit of slope to it and we have a couple of washes on the property. Primary uses will be to clean up a lot of debris on the land, maintain the landscape a bit, grade the driveway. I also plan to level some of the land for a few buildings etc.
I've learned much in a short period of time spent with the tractor... I realized that a drag was going to help me out quite a bit in smoothing the land. So I gathered some metal from around the house and built a drag this past weekend. (Beta testing will begin this weekend.
)
Thanks for all the great advice on here, and thanks for having me...
