Are you moving shipments of drugs or something? Residential . . . shipments every other month . . . no loading docks . . . low profile. . .

Fishy. . . very fishy.

I did once consider an old gasser, yes it would work. I would like to remain in the grey compact world though, I dont want old farm machinery in a residential area.

At one time I would have thought that was an unusual viewpoint. But that's because I've never lived in town. From talking to friends where I work sometimes there are even lots of places that have regulations against farm machinery being out where it can be seen. Other places seem to consider things like a an old Farmal or JD or hay rake to be yard art or sculpture....a sort of "Americana", and scatter a few pieces around the yard.

I've got a buddy who lives in town in a neighborhood with a "block committee" who decides what is acceptable and what isn't. The upshot is that he isn't even allowed to park his pickup on the street. That would bother me but doesn't bother him. So that's OK.

With any compact grey other than one of those monster yanmar ym7000 or something i dont think a little compact iseki mitsu yanny or himoto will hold your 300lb fork mast on the 3pt and then hole another 700-1000 lbs off the back 6 feet in the air and be stable or safe. It will wat to tip backward once the load is on it before you can lower it wich will be very unsafe. to give you an example. my yanmar ym2000 is 24 engine hp. I have ~80lbs front weight and with my boom pole on the back i can pick up my buddies 4 foot tiller to put it in the back of my truck. I estimate the tiller to be between 300-400lbs. While i feel very safe and stable i keep it low so if it swings or i start to tip back i can let it to the ground. The only time it is waist high is to put it into the truck bed. Im actually off the tractor controlling 3pt hitch and rolling the rear tire, this turns my tractor into a cherry picker or like an engine lift. Anyway this realitively light load even though its 4 feet off the back still really lightens the front of my tractor where i can almost pick the front off the ground that much weight has shifted from the lift. This is on a 1800lb tractor. My point is even if i was a like a ym 2500, close to 30 hp engine (next bigger sixe frame tractor)i think you would still be veryunsafe lifting 1000lbs up 6 feet in the air off of a semi.

I too would get an old jd from the 60's or an old ford. there heavy as h3)) even though there not much hp they can pull a house and lift it too. LOW profile is not a SEMI pulling up to your house every other month or so. And sounds like you have a shed/barn already, park it inside or behind it or build a leanto off the side to park it under. If you dont want your cool old historic tractor to be seen by you to good for you neighbors (i have some) put tin side on that lean to, it will darken it inthere where its hard to see in, or put doors on it to make a tractor garage, or put sides on it and face the opening to the back away from the road. I try and keep my tractor hidden form the road myself as they are very easy to steal and between 4wheelers and CUTs a very hot item among the tweekers.

I have started a home-based business which involves unloading pallets of merchandise off a semi-trailer truck. No loading dock obviously. Been renting the neighbors skid steer for the task, unfortunatly leaves ruts and tears up the drive and the lawn to the pole shed where I store the mechandise. My question, what size tractor could handle 700lbs palleted loads with a 3ph safely. BTW I have a yanmar 1110d and am very familiar with grey market kubotas, isekis hinomotos ect. just not the 20 + hp types.

How do you find grey market tractors and how much do you save? They sound like you have to whisper a code word to someone who takes you to the basement of a warehouse where under a cover in the back their is a 'Bota staight off an unmarked container.

Any of the sales ads or craigs list is full of "greys" you just have to know what your looking for. All yanmars of a certain # u know are grey, all Iseki are greys some himotos, all Mitsubisis are greys, and some of the Kuboboos that have been here a while are possible greys all though i dont know much about the kubo market.

There is a guy in Minneapolis ( Bernstenengle Eq.) could be spelled wrong but I bought my 1st tractor from him and he sells a good product. You have to be carefull of some Greys because they are poorly refurbished and painted to look like new. Anyway I bought a 30hp Iseki and have loved every minute of using it. Very durable with tons of special options. I am now ready for a larger tractor and am unsure where to sell the Iseki other than e-bay or craigslist. Maybe both. Anyway there are some very good tractors coming out of Japan.

Problem with those Iseki or sharabus (i know not japanees) or Mitsubishis, is lack of replacement parts, say axle seals or gears or spindles or other things. Of couse yoiu can prolly get easy common things like injectors bearings and starters and alts and things.

Yeah, I read where guys are looking for odds and ends parts for the Jap Greys. The guys in the Iseki forum seem to get taken care of but I have no idea where they source their parts. I have been lucky to not need any. My particular Iseki is almost a direct cross to a Massey 1240 so manuals and parts are out there at the Massey dealers. Some have no direct cross..Lucky for me I guess....
