Deck Building

Oh Yea, I'm putting the decking on mine now and forgot I had that many muscles in my back to hurt. Some of it might be due to age on my part and definetly a couple of days.

Thumbs up on the Ipe, it is hands down the best decking available!

I actually just put the pergola up this weekend. I'll take some pictures after work today. It has been a pretty big project. Laying decking is pretty boring but it is all done now

Timber,
This has been a great project to follow. You are a work-a-holic! I too would like to see the pictures of the pergolo you put up.
I remember the videos you posted when you were cleaning up this area with the boxblade and fel work.
That is where the deck is now, right?

I set the post for the pergola when I came this far with the decking. This is also the 1st length of
decking I had to rip on the table saw so it looked visually correct to the eyes

I had to plum each post and cross brace it to the one I set before it

I wanted the posts to be sitting on the footings instead of the deck itself. The problem was I also
had to have the posts exactly 8 feet apart for appearance and the footings are close but not exact

Some of them are right on the money and some off by a few inches, all of them are lagged into the support post

Awesome...
I didn't realize how close it came to the pool.
A real party animal house environment. You must have chicks draping all over you.;)
lol...that's what I miss most about being your age. hahaha, but of course my ex didn't think it was funny.

these steps hear down to the pool are just temporary. The stairs are going to be completely around
all 3 sides. The steps on top of the deck are done minus the hand rails

I have to tell you I was surprised at how different the atmosphere changed with the pergola

LOL well we do like to party. You are correct this deck is sitting exactly where I was box blading earlier this year. There is still much to do. next weekend I will finish the stairs and planters. The stairs will sit on the edge of the patio and surround the entire deck to avoid perimeter railings. There will be hand rails on 3 of the posts to access the deck from the pool. I am putting built in planters on the corners built into the stairs to throw off the parallel lines made by the bottom stair riser and the edge of the pool. I still will have the batons for the top of the pergola to do. I have a big cookout event for the 18th and then I need to start the Koi pond & at the very least get the liner and the water in before the fall rains start
