Just curious as to what everyone's deck height is set at? After one mow I'm still searching for that perfect cut height. I think it's going to end up on setting 3, "maybe" 2. When I started mowing with my Cub for the first time yesterday I accidently left the setting on the "low it will go" setting. After several swipes I began to notice how short the grass was being cut. Needless to say I felt like such and idiot. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

For comparison mine is the new LT1042.

Welcome to TBN and congrats on your purchase. Each person likes their grass at different height, just figure out what looks best to you and go with that!

Shannon,
I just bought a new CC1515 and have been trying to decide the same thing. I have centipede grass. I have tried 1,2 and 3. Think I will go with 2.

I think it is a matter of how much your are cutting off,the ideal situation is to cut off between 1 or 2 inches, you start cutting off to much and it will hurt your grass, set it at whats right for you and go with it.

...more then you really wanted to know....

Q:
How long should my grass be?

A:
The longer the grass, the easier it is to follow the one-third rule. This means removing no more than one-third of the grass blade when mowing. The ideal length for cool-season grasses, like Kentucky bluegrass and Tall fescue, is 3–4 inches. The best length for warm-season grasses, such as Bermuda grass, is 1–2 inches.

Q:
How frequently should I mow?

A:
Don't use your calendar, use a ruler! What does that mean? Instead of, say, mowing every Saturday morning, use a little math and follow the one-third rule. This means removing no more than one-third of the grass blade. So if you keep your grass length at 4 inches, you'll want to cut it when it reaches 6 inches. Following the one-third rule means more mowing during high growth times (e.g., spring, post-rainy periods, and heavy nitrogen fertilization) and easing back when growth is slow. Frequency, quite simply, will vary with growth.
