Does you know of a method of decrowing a rooster. I like the sound,
but!

Get some guinea hens to drown out the noise?

Seriously, I have never heard of a way.

I agree with other posters. If you could do it, it probably would be cruel. (like taking away your manhood). Seriously, if you get rid of the rooster and get a hen you get free eggs.

I have heard that if the rooster is in a confined space such that he can not lift his head, he will not crow.

I have no verification of this rumor.

I was worried that when i got my chicks they made a mistake i have 5 and two make a lot of noise almost like crowing like a rooster......but both are the americana/americundas and they just seem to crow at different parts of the day.
Our neighbor had a rooster, we heard it at our property man their voices can travel. Are there any silent rooster breeds? bet you would make a mint if you could breed one.

Take him to the vet to have his vocal cords cut or find a new home.

I thought Wiley E. Coyote was chasing road runners and I don't think ever 'speaks', are you thinking about Elmer Fudd and 'wascally wabbits'?

Greetings, Just read your words of wisdom, like foxhole humor.
" How we gona get them off that hill?" " We could ask them to come down here."

Curly, I've heard of that, keeping the rooster in a low inclosure at night, do you know it to work?

I have heard a rooster has no vocal cords. I have heard that a mustle lower in the chest area does control the crowing.

I expected the recipes, that may be the answer as these chicks grow older.

The girls want to incubate, I would make an incubator, the eggs. That would be an adventure for the whole familly.

Well! I'll take this under advisement while waiting for Curly Dave's answer about the low inclosure at night or whatever else might be posted. Thanks

Richard

Shortly after we moved here in September, 2005, I frequently heard a rooster crowing. I'd guess it was probably in the next block south of us. Of course, being an old country boy, I kind of like hearing them, just as I like hearing a donkey braying, as well as the birds singing. But anyway, it wasn't long until a couple of teenage girls came knocking on the door one evening and had a petition they wanted us to sign to allow them to keep their pet rooster. I told them I didn't mind the sound at all, but could understand other people not liking it, so I would not sign their petition. After they left, I checked our city ordinances and could see that if 2 or more people complain about the noise, no petition is going to mean anything, because a barking dog or crowing rooster has to go. So after a day or two, I never again heard a rooster in this neighborhood.
