We planted a dozen or so trees a couple of years ago. Now the deer are eating the springtime leaves. I need a "home brewed" deer repellent so they will dine someplace else. Something a little more neighborhood friendly than a 243. Thanks.

Hopefully there will be a deer hunter that's been un-successful for the past 10 or so seasons who will chime in with information on what he sprays on his boots/clothes etc.

Some days I just can't control myself and I apologize.

We have used Wolf Urine with great success,no damage from deer in the past 2 years that we have used it.Google Spencer's Garden Center, they are in Shelburne Nova Scotia, there you will find the information on how to establish stations and excellent information on how to use it.

We have tried a lot of things around here, but the fence is the best, but it is a pain to mow around, and take down and put up when it's time to pick the fruit. I haven't been able to find any wolf's that will pee in a bottle.:)

Problem with fence is how to protect 5000 seedlings when they come out the top of the protection tube. Not practical to fence the entire area. I had heard about the wolf urine but only by second hand.

When I worked on a tree farm many years ago we used to spread blood
meal around the tree plots to try to deter deer. The blood meal is also about
13% nitrogn. A good dog will keep deer away too.

Crossbow is neighborhood friendly:)

I have vineyard and NoVa is full of deer. When the grapes are ripening, dogs our outside 24/7 to establish significant presence.

Otherwise big vineyards and apple orchards in our area use 8' fences, nothing else will truly stop the deer.

Good luck!
