Cowboy, the numbers do not lie... Let me know what bullet you are using and I will run a table and send it to you.. On the 30-06 I had used a 180 gr. soft point, which is what most of the old time hunters around here use. I ran a check on a .308 with a 150 gr. hunting bullet and came out with about the same. The drop of the bullet is 2.5 to 3 times more from 500 to 650 yards as it is from 200 to 400.
Let me know what bullet, type and brand, you use. How high above the the center of the chamber the center of scope is. Almost all printed charts use 1 1/2 inch. Also what muzzle velocity you have for your rifle if you know it... I know mine, do you know yours... (I have a chrono and have checked), also have four different computer programs to run for a ballistic table. They all come out about the same, some are just a little more precise than others. Just how accurate do you want it, give the elevation and barometic pressure and temp. Those will change the point of impact maybe 3-6 inches at 650 yards and we are really talking feet. One last thing I said the rifle was sighted in for 200 yards (two inches high at 100, how often have you heard that) it will have the most impact.
