I noticed that a 12 pack of this stuff is the same cost for big dogs and little dogs. I buy the big dog size and just use a partial tube per month on my smaller dog. Cuts the cost in half.

Last evening restack some fire wood rake the open area,while setting in chair watch tv later on felt something on my shoulder..yup tick,wife remove it plus another that just start to dig into me...**** things.

For tick removal, get the tick tornado or tic twister, they look like mini crow bars. I have the tick key, and its great for dog ticks but would not remove a deer tick I had in me.
I use talstar around our property, its pet safe once washed in. Look at diypest control dot com and you can see the various tick killers.
Treatment 21days of doxicycline is what I have been given most times.

My vet recommended using Advantix II over Frontline. Frontline mixes with your dog's blood so a tick has to get to the blood before it's poisoned.

Hmmm. Sounds like your vet is either an idiot or a crook. If he sells Advantix, I think we know which one it is.

Not even a tiny bit. Doesn't hurt to use it on the wound after they are removed.

Use a pair of very fine nosed tweezers, get as close to the skin as you can, and twist them out. A magnifying glass helps, as does a having a third hand.

Don't use tweezers to remove a tick unless it is the only way to access the tick.

We use this flat tick puller all of the time, Amazon.com : Pro-tick Remedy with 5x Magnifier, Key Chain, Tick Id Card and Tick Tutorial : Tick Removal Device : Pet Supplies. If we cannot access the tick with the flat tick puller we use a tick twister.

The problem with trying to remov a tick with a flame, lit cigarette, chemicals, or tweezers is that they can cause the tick to puke into the host which is when diseases can be spread.

The previously mentioned tick pullers easily remove ticks unless the tick has had time to deeply embed itself in the host at which point tweezers are about all you can use.
