My sister-in-law has her garden area surrounded with "deer fence". This is an open-mesh wire fence material that is about 7' tall. Deer don't seem to jump it, and it is (mostly) invisible.

In fact, her deer fencing goes around the entire house compound area. Maybe the 100# german shepard is also a factor?

Bird, a chicken tractor is basically a movable, bottomless cage that houses chickens. You move it from area to area, and the chickens eat the vegatation/weeds under the tractor, and deposit manure. Pete (Boondox) went into them in detail on a thread that I started a while ago, asking advise for raising chickens. Pete also goes into detail about them on his website.

If I understand correctly, a chicken tractor is a chicken coup on mounted to a 4 wheel wagon frame. Wire mesh for the bottom, so the "fertilizer" falls directly to the ground. Every couple of days, you move it to a new spot /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Your yard is evenly fertilized, and the chickens get new scenery (like they care /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif)

Hey lets not be bad-mouthing them freaken chickens!!!

"Your yard is evenly fertilized, and the chickens get new scenery (like they care )"

I just finished 7 days of building a stinking coop and blew about $150 in T111, etc and the dang chickens hete it. They want to go roost in trees and chance coon attackes. It may be time for the "First Annual Chicken Shoot" - Proceeds to benefit the humane society. LOL

Portable pen that you either move daily so they chow down on the lawn, or leave in place and add straw to daily so the birds poop and scratch it all up into a marvelous future garden site. Mine are rectangular -- ten feet long and four wide, with a lid -- but the triangular arrangement JimMoore has also qualify as chicken tractors...and a far better design than my own!

Now that I post this, our garden wil be eaten!

My wife has had very good success with mixing 1 quart of water, one egg, and 1 tablespoon mayonaise. She sprays it on the plants. We had some problems before, but none since.
