Hello,

I'm new to the site and need some assistance with a problem with my John Deere 210 (early serial) that I have been restoring from the ground up and when I start the engine, the transmission idler pulley won't turn when bolt is tight and the belt (new) starts to smoke. If not tightened, it rattles, but doesn't smoke. I'm guessing a tension issue or adjustment? If you remove the pulley, it spins fine. Any help would be appreciated!

Welcome to the TBN. Is it possible that the offset is flipped the wrong way and the pulley is drawn into the bracket or?

Hi Tom,

Thanks for the welcome. I did consider this, but when I took it apart to restore, I took alot of pictures, but neglected to take one of the pulley to see which side the offset it on. Deere parts book and service manuals I have don't give a clear pic from an angle that would tell me. If you or anyone knows, that may solve the problem. Thanks again for your time!

Jim
