Next time you get on your <font color="green">2210</font>, could you turn your key to the "<font color="purple">ON</font>" position (not running) and see if your <font color="red">Water Temp</font> light illuminates? My <font color="red">Oil</font> and <font color="red">Batt</font> do. I would speculate that the <font color="red">Oil</font> and <font color="red">Batt</font> illuminate because the engine is not running and... (Oil pressure is zero and the Alt is not charging... again, because the engine is not running). While the water temp os OK (not triggering the light to illuminate).
So, tell me if you dash lights are the same as mine. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
Maybe Deere does not add a test position like cars have? /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

My 2210 dash lights work the same as yours, no water temp. light when key is turned to ON position. This is the way it is designed to work, you are OK.

<font color="green">OK until the light fails and then you won't know you are overheating until you see steam or something much worse let's you know!

My brother's 2210 doesn't have a light for the glowplugs. Are they not offered on the 2210?

Thanks for checking your lights for me. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
It's good to know. Yes, until the day it burns out... /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

As for the glow plug lights....
The 2210 has no light.
To use the glow plug, you must hold the key in the start position (with the trans in gear).
This keeps it from starting but the glow plugs will heat.
It is not in the manual and my dealer had to find out how for themselves. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

You can just pull out the PTO switch and do the same thing..Makes for alot less use on the starter motor..

JDDude,

I'll have to try the PTo suggestion, but am curious as to why you think it is easier on the starter? It's not cranking either way. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

What I ment is , by pre heating the glow plugs(by pulling out the PTO awitch or leaving the unit in gear and turning the ignition key) the tractor starts much faster. Less grinding on the starter=less wear and tear..

I truly distrust idiot lights. Warning bells and whistels..
I guess I'm from the old school. Give me guages with NUMBERS on them. Idiot lights, bells and alarms are ok when they are backed up by guages.
Even when a machine has electronic guages and I suspect there is a problem, I hook up an old fashion MANUEL guage just to help me chase down the real problem.
Just my two cents worth. virgil
