Rotary Cutter Deere 2520 - Can it be used with a Howse 500 brush hog?

Hello everyone. I recently inherited the maintenance duties on my parents property after my dad past away. He had a Deere 2520 and an old Ford 8n (or 9n not sure).

Anyway, the ford is not running and has a Howse 500 brush hog attached to it. I was wondering if I can hook this up to the Deere? Also, if someone knows what, if any, modifications would be required?

I don't have a lot of knowledge on tractors, but hopefully someone here can lead me it the right direction to get this working.

I think it will run it just fine. Does the 2520 have a frontend loader? If not, you may need some weight in front, but that's about it.

It should hook right up to the JD, but just make sure that the PTO shaft has enough free movement to move with the machine. If it's too long and jams into the case it could break the gear case. +$$$$$$. Conversely, you don't want it fall apart either if its too short.

Thanks. yes it has a front loader. I'll look up some videos and research how to hook up PTO's and free movement. I'll have to see if the neighbor can come over and let me know about the free movement...not sure how I test for that. The brush hog manual talks about shorting the shaft, so that maybe necessary...idk.

Should be fine. May have to take 1/2 a bite or go slow in think grass or hills.
