Anyone know where I can get a usable Marvel Scheibler carb for my JD 3020?

Can you rebuild the one you have? Those are very simple carbs. NAPA auto parts used to have kits for them.

thanks for the info. There is an old (auto) guy around here who is a carb expert and has rebuilt carbs for me before, but he took one lookat my JD 3020 carb and said no soap. I found a rebuilt one, tho, at Allstates Ag Parts.

Another question re: this carb. What does the electrical gizmo by the flost chamber do and how does that work?

I just went through a #21 Marvel for a 3020. If you leave the accelerator pump parts alone its simple enough to clean. Just don't use compressed air on those parts as one has a check valve that can be damaged. That valve needs a special tool to set it. A Zenith carb was also used

The electric deal shuts off fuel to the load jet so it doesn't backfire when shut off hot. If you want chest pain, price that out at a dealer! They do have a regular jet replacement now too.
