Tractor
Deere 318, Cub 126
Currently using a 318 to manage my property - mostly mowing about 6 acres of pasture and tending a small garden. I壇 really like something with just a little more oomph and 稚ractor functionality. I think even a small rotary mower would save me tons of time(I mow twice a month.)
I宋e found a pretty good deal on a YM240 and wonder if it would be enough of an upgrade. Any thoughts?
One of my biggest concerns is that I have a couple of pretty good hills and I don稚 want to have trouble with bogging pulling a bush hog. The other is that I really wanted a 4wd tractor, but since I知 currently using the 318, I guess 4wd is obviously not necessary.
Thanks for any input.

I知 actually one of those guys that prefers gear drive.

I am actually looking at an 855, but it looks pretty ragged compared to the YM I知 considering that痴 almost half the price.

Thanks for your input.

If you can buy the YM240 cheap and it's in really good shape why not.. The Deere 855 is a good tractor with hydro but they tend to be overpriced for the years they were built..

I cut through 8' brush with a 15 hp Shibara and a 4' rotary cutter. No real hills though. Just be careful on sidehills because these tractors can be pretty narrow. You will like that diesel power and the flexibility of a tractor.

Between the uneven ground and the short wheelbase, the front of the mower would often dig into the ground. I put a pair of guide wheels from a baler pick up on the front of the mower, and no more gouging.

By the way, I would literally drive right through that 8' brush with that little tractor and mower. There were no trails, just solid brush. I would walk it first to flag stumps and cut any stems over 1 1/2". It made quite a clatter, but it was amazing what that little tractor would do.

Well, had just about decided to buy the YM240, but can稚 find any ag tires to fit the rims.

13.6x16 Got to know I can get rear ags for it before I buy. Can find plenty of turfs, but not ags.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

These came with 9.5/24 as an option. It means finding new rims/tires if you can't find tires for your rims now.

Look on "Tractor Data.com" It will tell more on sizes that came on that model.

:). My tire guy told me if I壇 order 15,000 we could get someone to make them through alibaba and sell them.
