looking at this machine, with steel tracks over the tires.

Any one run one or have any thing to say?

I've been on some really rocky jobs (big rocks) that pop my tracks off the CTL. Hoping this will handle the terrain better.

Also looking at Cat 272 and maybe Bobcat S330 but Deere is offering a really good deal.

I dont have a 332D but I do have a 2004 317 and it is one capable machine. I have experience in Deere CTL's and they also were very capable machines, both the CT322 and my 317 have been very reliable and are fairly easy to work on (Except the battery). The new D series does not have a back door which would make working on it a little harder, however they also have larger side panels but this means the boom must be up to service or work on it if it were to break down. Just a few things to check out before you pull the trigger on one. :)

Ted, I have been told the hyd capacity/cooling is horrible. I had a S330 which i turned the injection pump up, it had the forestry package etc. I didnt have any cooling issues, some say they have. My 330 ran my 180D no problem. Stay outta the rocks theyre no darn fun, really hard to make money on them jobs.

Yeah, I learned that a while back but this is a job I signed a contract for 18 moths ago, I was in a different postion then..I have about 130 acres of this crap then back to over 100 acres of mature timber clearing just waiting..

I'll check out the Bobcat..really want used because either way at the end of these acres it's gonna be beat.

Supertrak has been working good but already ready for the next step up. Saw a Bron 275 that looked pretty sweet.

You keeping all that iron mulching?

Waiting for spring breakup to be over, it was all goin till about a month ago mostly sitting idle right now. Cleared 1300 hectares this winter got 12000 more to go, supposed to be starting up around June or July. I'm trying to secure a contract I'm gonna need 8 more 400+ hp machines to do.

I ran a 333D for a few months same exact machine but tracked it did ok. Was running the JD head on it which was just a repainted Fecon. Machine did ok but did not like the hot months at all had issues with over heating while running it hard. Mostly hydraulic overheating it had the auto reversing fan which seemed to keep the radiator clean but the hydraulic cooler just wasn't enough. We eventually put an external Loftness cooler which helped greatly. Wasnt very pleased with the power though when getting into the heavier stuff or thicker stuff ie 4+inches head bogged fairly easy and recovery time wasnt too impressive. Deffently prefer my SK140STR over it but as I know that is kinda like comparing Apples to Oranges powerwise.

here is a pic when we took delivery
