Deere 345/Kubota BX22 Swap Make Sense?

I agree, but I think that the main reason the smaller JD compacts don't stand out is their price. If they would include all the options to make the units comparable and then match up on price, they might be more competitive.

The other problem they have is too many models. Trying to suck people in on a low price machine and then move them up to the full-featured, slightly higher HP machine in the same class. Doesn't really fool anybody.

Their philosophy appears to be one of taking the high road and trying to hold a premium price based on their name. Their product is not really any beter or worse than the others, so the higher prices is not really justified. Deere's favorite color does appear to be green - as in money, money, money.

I as looking into putting a small backhoe on my little JD4100. They wanted more than $7000! just for the backhoe.

I paid less than that for the tractor!

I am seriously considering changing color just due to the high prices of their stuff.

I did a bit more research and figure what I really need/want is a BX2200, BX2230, or JD2210. I mean, my wife needs/wants ...

I still can't figure out why Deere expect you to pay so much for an X500, when the 2210 seems to be the better machine, hands down, and cheaper.

As things stand, I am trying to get my Kubota dealer and Deere dealer to bargain. Deere wants around C $19,400 with a 62" deck and FEL, while Kubota wants C $1,000 more for a BX2230. It appears that the loader on the Kubota has lower capacity, but is faster, and the Deere deck is bigger.

I still haven't had a credible explanation as to the differences between the BX2200 and BX2230, except the engine has a slightly different model number, and BX2200s may be discounted by $600 or so to clear.

Of course a big question is the value of my 345 as a trade in and I haven't gotten a quote on that, yet.

My wife says she would prefer a green tractor over an orange one. She doesn't mean she like Deere over Kubota, she means green as in the color.

I believe that, when it comes to attachments, any manufacturer's attachments are gonna cost an arm and a leg. Even a blade from Deere or Kubota seems to cost must more than Buhler, Agrotrend, or whatever.

Although I know there are third party FELs and Backhoes, I think of these as being sort of matched to the machine, so in the past (and probably with the 2210 or BX) I bought 'factory' FEL and backhoe, but I wasn't happy doing it.

I don't even both pricing other attachments from Kubota or Deere, although I admit I made an exception for the front blower currently being installed on my 3010. The only alternative I found was basically a front mount kit for a rear mount blower, which was cheaper, but not cheaper enough.

I'd just keep what I have now and use the bigger tractor for places I might get stuck. I have a JD 4610 that I mow my yard with, plus the things I need the bigger tractor for. There's no way I could justify buying a smaller tractor to do yard work.

Kubota was the most expensive when I looked. NH was also slightly more expensive than Deere. Guess it depends on the area.

The Xs appeal to a whole different crowd than the 2210 or the BX22 for that matter. I imagine the average lot size for someone who owns an X series is pretty small. The people who buy those want a top of the line GT not a subCUT or CUT.

I paid $5400 for the 46 set-up for my 4115. Not saying that is cheap but it is better than $7000 /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Good luck. I tried to trade in my 335. He told me to go and sell it outright. They did have three already on the used lot. He said he would take it in trade but that I would not like the price. I said okay, I would sell it. Here lies the problem. That was in May and I still have the thing. Not that it won't sell, I think you have to put it up for sale first. It is paid for, and is handy at times.

I'm not too worried. If they want to sell me a new tricked up tractor, they'll have to deal .... or no deal.

During negotiations, the guy with the power is the guy who doesn't care whether or not there is a deal.
