you can also add ballast to the tractor to give it more traction. certainly not to get it to 12,000 lbs but you can get a lot of weight on it. filled tires, wheel weights, a loader.

All 4 Fluid filled has certainly helped every JD tractor I’ve ever owned (y)

Seems more like a HP race in that size category than something that's really useful because the weight just isn't there for the HP. There's still folks out there still using the IH 100 Hydro but it's a 12,000# tractor.
Agreed.

In one sense more power is never a bad thing, but in another sense can you use that much power in your chassis?

For example I was at my old dyno shop getting my 03 Cobra tuned years ago, and a guy there had a Miata that he had swapped an old Ford 302 in and had a Kenne Bell blower on it. I'm like, "dude, that is bad arse." He's like, "it sounds cool, but I'm going back to a 4 cylinder in it. The boosted V8 just adds too much weight to the frontend, the chassis won't house much tire, and there is just way too much power for this lightweight, short wheelbase chassis to manage effectively." He was like, "this car's not fun to drive, it's scary to drive, as anytime you try and put some power down you just can't control it."

The same here. Do you really need a compact tractor with 75 HP? What are you planning on turning with the PTO? A heavy round baler, maybe a 15' batwing, how about a 10'+ disc mower? At this point stepping up to a larger, heavier chassis with a longer wheelbase to manage the weight and size of the implement is as important as being able to turn it. That's just too much money for a tractor that you have to limit yourself on based off of the chassis capabilities as opposed to the power output. JMO.

I find the extra horsepower useful when using the batwing mower going up steep hills. Also nice when using the plow. It also runs way cooler than my 4066R did. The electronic rockshaft is also a nice addition John Deere has some problems to get worked out, but all in all it is a an enjoyable tractor to work with.
