Hi, I just learned about E95 (95% Ethanol/5% Gas) as a potential replacement for diesel. Anyone know if a new 4120 can handle it?

Dear Rebel,
First and foremost, as a 1-year-old model your 4120 must still be under warrantee, E95 isn't approved by JD for your tractor, so case closed for the short term.
Long term, you're looking at injector changes, electronic changes, compression changes and then some more injector cleaning/changes. My advice: Google E95 and read up on how its been used. Nice thought in a lot of ways, but currently impractical.

I thought -- gas/ethanol in a diesel -- that's crazy. Then did a google search and found where it's been testing in Europe with good results. I wouldn't do it to my Deere... I would worry about the lubrication that would not be in the ethanol mix that you get with diesel.

B95 -- 5% diesel, 95% biodiesel would work - but not in cold weather. I would run this in mine if I could get it.

Hi Husker,

I was hoping someone would tell me that Deere would support it. I would not test it in mine either without a lot more research. That said, with the amount of timber I have it sounds great. Thanks for the input.
