I have a deere 455 with no serial plates on it, its a very rough looking machine. I need to replace the ignition module on this machine and have read that I first need to know the serial number of the machine. What would happen if I bought a module that suits a different serial number machine? Would it still work? The ignition module I have is badly weathered and is no longer engaging the mid PTO
Thanks
Matt

Hi Matt. I,ve got a 455 as well, and from what I have learned about mine, the mid pto is engaged by the pulling up on the switch on the left of the dash, and a coil that is located at the back of the tractor. I have had to replace that coil once to repair my mid pto engagement. As far as I know, that circuit does not run thru the ignition module. Are you handy with a test light ? Try and get a copy of the wiring diagram and trace thru that. Did the mid pto ever work since you bought the tractor ?
