3-Point Hitch Deere 4720 Three Point Hitch Failure

/ Deere 4720 Three Point Hitch Failure #11
I have been told deere used a cable system kinda like the old choke cables and they are prone to failure. This system is only used on the cab models and deere is supposed to be upgrading on the newer cabs this year. Good Luck

Correct on that is cable controlled...I had some business to do at the dealer on my way home yesterday so I asked about it....in all the years they've been servicing the cable control units on all the equipment, they havent had failures that were because of "Prone to Failure".....said by far the BIGGEST thing with them was adjusting them correctly.
He also told me False on them doing away with cable systems...if anything be prepared for more cable systems....it allows for better ergo, etc...
Deere isnt the only ones using Cable...my old man's L2900 has a cable controlled SCV...

UPDATE: The tractor is home. The hitch failure was due to a problem inside the rockshaft housing. Apparently, a couple of bolts had fallen out. The service tech was describing it over the phone and the conversation was brief. The next time I speak with him I will try to get a more detailed explanation.

But the good news is the tractor is resting comfortably in my shed. The thought of a weekend with no tractor bonding was worrying me.

Good for you, when you get a chance ask the tech if the rockshaft valve had an issue.
