Is there a hood stack option? I see the round vent/plug thing and was wondering.
I talked to the John Deere guy trained on the new 4xxxR series at the NFMS today in Louisville. He said they would have the website reflecting the new models live the end of February or the first of march and would start shipping in April. I almost ordered a 4520 last year but decided to wait to see what this new line offered.
Two features that i think are a valuable are the rear fender controls to creep forward and back and raising or lowering the 3point hitch. They also have an option to provide down pressure on the lift arms. Second feature that i think is worthwhile is the optional front hitch. He told me that a front hitch would be available in the spring of 2015 for front mounted implements like the 3x20 series offers.
I questioned him on the Tier 4 systems and he said the components are engineered for 10,000 hours with no additional maintenance required. This series will regenerate automatically at the tractor start up.
They had both the R and M 4xxx series there and they are nice tractors but not sure how much extra the Tier 4 will add.

the exhaust vent in the hood will be used during the engine regeneration. exhaust temps
will be high to burn off soot in the exhaust filter, so they redirect the exhaust up thru the vent
in the hood instead of down towards the ground, in case the tractor is indoors or out in dry conditions.
while in national training in florida, i questioned them on the front hitch, as they mentioned it was going
to be part of the new design. after questioning a couple different people, one guy finally mentioned
that they were "working on a design" and it would be something they are trying to do down the road.
he indicated an aftermarket company was working on the design, and they said they were looking at
an engine driven front PTO, not coming from a mid pto like the 3000's. no date was given by him as
they had not finalized anything yet. let's hope it's not an other 270 backhoe! (but we do have a 270A)
