Bob, I neglected to hang out my sarcasm flag.
Yea, I knew it was a joke, but I've been a member here for several years and while some brands are sometimes known for being priced high than other, it seems to me that the better known brands are often very very competitively priced with the lesser known brands.
New Holland is probably one of the highest priced brands on the market, often higher than Deere. There is a new TC24DA with loader on my dealers lot right now for $12,950. That makes it priced very close to many of the lower powered machines offered by the lesser known brands (
that is the price the dealer has on the internet so it is probably negotiable).
I often wonder how many of the comments about Deere being "very proud of their green paint" are related to the fact that maybe the shopper was simply a crappy negotiator? Or maybe the person never really got a real price but was given a list price simply because it seemed like they were just 'window shoppers' by the dealer?
There is just so much "bashing" of the brands that is acceptable before it seems reasonable to respond. And I know you were not "bashing" Deere & Kubota with this post but I figured I'd take the opportunity to toss out the other side of the story.
Heck if you closely study the specs of SIMILAR tractors on many of the machines you will find that SOME of the major brand machines blow away the specs of the minor brand machines and SOME of the major brand machines fail in comparison. Same thing seems to happen with the prices of the machines, especially when regional factors are tossed into consideration. But still it is very common to read some 'broadstroke generalities' about brands, and those are not necessarily true . . . but if you question them then you get blamed for bashing???
Then there are the niche tractors, those tractors that are somewhat specialized and people consider you a knucklehead of you even consider something like that, at those higher specialized niche prices, when their 'lesser known' brand is just as good, costs less, blah blah blah. But the users of the specialty brands know that NOTHING compares to them except perhaps another specialty task specific tractor. But the people who may be inquiring about the specialty tractor get confused because they are just researching and are now getting bad/incorrect information.
OK, I'm done with my rant.
