Deere Corn, 1 Shot Deal or Year-a-Round

Our feed is set to run for 8 seconds, (1.5 pounds) at 530 pm and its like a dinner bell for them. Like Gauthier was saying, I felt the need to due to constant hunting pressure and my neighbors having 5 feeders up spewing out 5lbs 3 times a day. When they do go off, its like a dinner bell for them.

have used the deer feeder before. watch what you put in, we used a molassas product had a bear ripp the feeder down and pounce it open. feeder is destroyed. deer corn works for a bit, but the squirrls/chippys/turkey eat it up also. no till clover is the way to go. throw it down, maby lime it if it needs it and your done.

If you want to put some weight on the deer...plant some (early and late season) soy beans...

I can confirm that. We planted beens in two batches about a month appart. They ate about an acre of each batch to half hight.

We plant a total of 10 acres into corn,soy-bean and corn/soy-bean mix, some sunflower, tried turnip, buckwheat, winter rye ect.Soy-bean is very high protein and great deer feed ...summer and winter.Feeders are illegal in NY.
Must work....shot a 150lb.spike with the bow...185lb.eight point with the rifle. Both these deer were weighed field dressed. We have seen a marked improvement in our deer.In our area the farmers are planting more soy-beans every year.I also have seen a doe(numerous times) that has triplet fawns;also a sign of good health.
Our food plots are left until spring and what is left is brush-hogged down and redone. This benifits all wildlife.

We have a deer feeder we keep full year-round for watching wildlife. Recently, the corn has just been collecting on the ground because the deer, turkeys, and even raccoons aren't interested. We have such a big crop of acorns that the wildlife doesn't even care about our corn. Deer hunters on leases are seeing the same thing. The corn is is building up around their feeders. One of my buddies has been collecting bags of acorns to spread around his feeder in the hopes that will work.

We also run our feeder year round. Last winter was brutal here in Ohio. Lots of snow made it hard on the deer. This spring I found more bones than in years past. I'm sure the corn helped some of them, but not all.

We have watched out the window deer coming to the feeder in the morning or evening and walk away due to lack of corn. A few minutes later the feeder would go off and they would turn around and RUN back to it. :licking:

I start ramping up the feeder times and amounts around October and hit full tilt by December. We put out about 300lbs a month. Last winter I put out a bit more just so we could watch them run when the diner bell rang.
