Deere Pick Up Truck??

Sorry, maybe I misunderstood you.... I still maintain that vehicle aplication plays a larger role than HP though. The 6.0L in a Ford F-250 has a different EEC system on it than its nearly identical F-650 brother because of the clasification of the truck. International EEC is used on the 650 because that is their forte and it is essentially an International truck with a Ford body on it, Ford uses their system on the SD because thats what they do(light trucks)and must meet tighter reg's. They may not be too far off, but they are different spec'd because of different restrictions. Both are road vehicles.

Back to the point, are there any tractors curently being produced with light truck emissions systems on them? I truly dont know, but last time I looked they were much more primitive because the reg's hadnt gotten to them yet. At least not to the point that an "on road" vehicle is.

Like I said, I do understand that JD and the others have restrictions to follow and they must comply to continue selling their tractors, Caterpillar even supplied the HUEI injector design for the 7.3L PS Ford used. My point was that it would take allot more than just dropping a combine engine into a truck body to market a JD truck.... It wouldnt be cost effective for JD to try. This is the same reason International doesnt make light trucks anymore, though some of their engine programs can be easily modified to fit other vehicles...

HGM,

I really don't think the standards are much different. I don't know the exact #'s but I will try and get ahold of the per hp particular matter standards. When I was at the Waterloo plant to get my 8320 I talked to the head engineer on their motors. I asked him what the difference was between my motor and the next size 8000 series. I thought they looked like the same motor. He said they were but the difference was the hp. Every engine has to be licensed and meet federal standards when it leaves. He told me that the new JD engines had less pollution than most cars now. I asked about just turning up the pump or getting a tuner to bump up the hp. He said you could do that but they couldn't do it and if anyone did it they would be subject to federal prosecution. I figured he knew what he was talking but I don't have the black and white information in front of me.

With regard to the 650 from Ford I have one and I am subject to the EXACT same standards that I had in my 350 with regard to the emissions standards sticker. My 650 has the cummins motor and all the same smog equipment, cat, etc. that the regular pickup has.

I did a quick search and found this page refering to engine lifespan, wich was covered in another post. Aparently the off-raod engines are emmision rated for kW/HP and should only last 3-8000hrs as far as the EPA is concerned. It also gives some good info on emmision standards for light duty trucks, heavy duty trucks, busses and off road vehicles showing changes in the restrictions through the '07 regs we get this year and taking us through '10(the next big one)

cowboydoc ,

This site and this one have some good info on the different regs. There are days of reading on there, but by following a couple of links you'll see that all of the on road standards are broken down into GVW not HP. Again, the standards arent totally different, just more lax on the heavier trucks(for now)... Off road fits a different category, but it seems that this year they will need to meet the '04 standards for on road vehicles.

Not sure that answers any questions, but its good info and reading none the less...

Here's my guess... It's not a pickup truck that they are revealing. It's an articulated tracked TLB...

I have no idea but figured I would throw in my two cents to speculation :)

I would ditch my GMC in 2 seconds if JD build a burly man truck.

UPDATE: Deere had indeed started producing pickups. The design is similar to the old dodge pickups. I have one...(regular cab, longbed) Attached are some pics:
