B2650,
Has anyone replaced the seal on the PTO on a 540/1000 RPM reversible shaft?

This is on a 6605 and I believe it is a dry socket design. I have never done one like this and the parts break down I'm not sure if the seal can be pulled from the outside, or if you have to pull the PTO frame off the rear of the housing.

I don't know "come here" from Sic-um" on the newer JD tractors but it will surprise me if it's a "dry hole" with those needle brgs right behind the seal!!!!!

The PTO shaft slides in part #5 and that is what is dry. Seal pulls from the out side. You may loose oil, only the inside of shaft 5 is dry everything else is in oil, hence the seal. Park pointing down hill or drain some of the oil.
