DEF going away ?

The simple act of doing a delete on a diesel vehicle does NOT mean rolling coal. It DOES mean lower overall cost of ownership since several pieces of failure-prone equipment are no longer attached to the vehicle.
Yes, I agree. A delete does not equal rolling coal. And while I am sure said truck is more polluting, no one would probably even notice. You do you!

I am glad you agree rolling coal is silly and irresponsible, finally we agree on something.

If i had a truck set up to roll coal, I'd want a way of igniting the smoke as it left the etack. How cool would that be?
Not very cool (hot, actually), but probably cleaner cheep thrills.

All of the dpf, egr's and def system do is add complexity and errors to a basic engine. As far as ag engines go the various Tiers just increased the cost and decreased the reliably and increased the fuel usage.
The best running engines I have run were the late tier 3 common rail engines. Excellent fuel economy, great starting fantastic torque rise as needed.

As far as pickups with diesels the mandated epa crap killed the mileage of those engines. Many of those engines had/have a loss of as much as 20% and some even more.
